The Durbelière castle, Mauléon

One view.
Other view.

In Saint-Aubin-de-Baubigné, in the municipality of Mauléon, in the department of Deux-Sèvres, The ruins of the Château de la Durbelière, 15th century.

Henri de La Rochejaquelein, 1772-1794, was born in the Durbelière castle, in Saint-Aubin-de-Baubigné. He was killed in the fight January 28th, 1794, at 21 years old, to Nuaillé in the department of Maine-et-Loire. He was one of the iconic leaders of the insurgents of the Guerre de Vendée, 1793-1796, whose causes are mainly the law voted by the "Assemblée Constituante", "Constituent Assemnly", on July 12, 1790 imposing the civil constitution of the clergy applied in July 1791 and the law of February 23, 1793 voted by the "Convention" imposing the levying by conscription and drawing lots, of an army of 300 000 men. About 200 000 deaths and nameless atrocities against the Natives of Vandee region.

The War of Vendée began with an uprising of the farmers around Bressuire in the department of Deux Sèvres, which looked for the officers having the experiment of the war and the command, to place them in the head. And so on April 13th, 1793, Henri de La Rochejaquelein made this famous speech in his troops:

"If my father was among us, he would inspire in you more trust, because hardly know me. I have moreover against me and my big youth and my inexperience; but I am already burning to make deserving ordering you. Let us fetch the enemy: If i move forward, follow me, if i move back, kill me, if i die, avenge me."

Hello Joël,
Evidently quite a large castle at one time, judging by these ruins. I like the framing offered by the overhanging trees and the shadow play across the grassy area in the foreground. Very good rendering of the tones and textures in the old stones.

Amicalement

Hello Joël,

Ruins have always something extraordinarily for a wonderful picture.
Also the original colors care for an attractive picture.
Lovely quality, and excellent sharpness.
Excellent composition, nice perspective and depth image.
Very well done, TFS.

Best regards,
John.

Bonjour Joel,

Sylvain

Hello Joel,
beautiful picture of ruin and fantastic framed image. The colors, sharpness, clarity, POV and DOF are fabulous like always magnificent, also great play light and shadow. Tfs.
All the best,
Barbara

Amicalement

Good sharpness and nice framed photo.
Excellent composition, good perspective and nice depth of field.
I cordially greet

Hi Joël,
The grey colours of these beautiful ruins are very pleasant against the green lawn and the cloudy sky. The faint red roof far away makes a certain accent too. The branch that you have included provides depth. All three pictures here are very interesting, so is also the note!
Kind regards
Gunnar

View of modern house beyond, tells that those ruins are actually were in town center in old age, Joel, so I recon.
Wide in compo., show lot's of space to imagine how big was the place before tore down.
Details are fine taken,
Bonsoire'e,
Ike
