Aubeterre-sur-Dronne Virtual visit.

AUBETERRE-SUR-DRONNE is a French municipality, situated in the department of the Charente of the region Poitou-Charentes, populated with 419 Aubeterriens in 2009, distributed on 2.4 km², that is to say 175.3 hab./km².

The village is quoted in 1004 under the name of Albaterra, white land.

We can see in the village a monolithic, subterranean church, dug from the 7th to the 12th century by monks of a Benedictines community.

Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, one of the most beautiful villages of France, is on the Via Turonensis of the Way of St. James, and is crossed by the river DRONNE.

_ The DRONNE takes its source 480 meters in height, in Massif Central, in the locality Borderies, in the Bussière-Galant municipality, in the department of the Haute-Vienne, and flows in the Isle in Coutras, department of the Gironde, after 200.6 km of course through a catchment basin of 2816 km².

We are back in rainy Sweden now after a very pleasant holiday in France. Once again, our sincere thanks for all your efforts.

This is indeed another beautiful part of France and a very sunny and enjoyable picture. The red brick roofs and the stone walls are very attractive against the blue sky.

Kind regards
Gunnar

PS I also uploaded a workshop version to this photo, taken fron the other side!

Sylvain
