The Church of Notre-Dame-de-la-Nativité, Romanesque, 12th 19th 20th centuries. Classified as historical monuments in 1987.

The Church of Notre-Dame-de-la-Nativité was preceded by a priory founded in 1090 to Cénac, destroyed in 1588 during the wars of religion. Only the apse of five bays escaped destruction.

The village of Cénac-et-Saint-Julien in Périgord Noir is in the DORDOGNE valley.

_ The DORDOGNE is formed in its origin, of brooks taking their spring up to 1694 meters in height, on the sides of the Puy de Sancy in the Massif Central. After a course of 483 kilometers, and the crossing of a catchment basin of 23870 km², it flows in the Garonne, at the bec d'Ambès in the estuary of Gironde, before joining the Atlantic Ocean. The status of the Dordogne made sometimes discusses, between that of an tributary river of the Garonne, or that of a river flowing into the Atlantic Ocean, by the estuary of the Gironde.

CÉNAC-ET-SAINT-JULIEN is a french municipality, located in the department of the Dordogne of the Aquitaine region, populated 1207 Cenacois in 2007, distributed out of 19.9 km², that is to say 60.6 hab./km².

The village of Cénac-et-Saint-Julien in the Périgord Noir, along the Dordogne, is located near Domme, Castelnaud-la-Chapelle, Beynac-et-Cazenac, La Roque-Gageac, the chateau of Milandes, and gardens of Marqueyssac.

Good Morning Joel,

The historic church is very nicely framed between the shadow on the right and the tree on the left. The church itself appears to be almost in a spotlight, gilding its exterior. You have a good dof, bringing out the details of the architecture.
The only clue to modern times is the wheel trim, leaning against the wall!

Another good architectural photo Joel - the church is well positioned with the blue sky providing good colour contrast.

C'est fou le nombre de superbes églises romanes que l'on peut découvrir en sillonnant la campagne française! Tu nous en montres un nouveau très bel exemple.
Certains ont cherché à "enjoliver" le monument....pas sûr qu'ils aient réussi -)

Belle architecture bien rendue avec cette belle lumière, on aurait juste envie si cela était possible de se décaler un peu pour ne pas avoir ces quelques feuilles qui se superposent à gauche, un détail ...

un bon cadrage qui met bien en valeur l'élégance et la beauté de l'architecture de cette église romane, sous un jeu fantastique de lumière et d'ombres.
L'image est très nette, la lumière est très bonne, et les couleurs sont naturelles, de plus, j'aime les branches de l'arbre à l'avant-plan, dans une composition très bien réalisée.
