The sun was beginning to cast some long shadows when I took this shot, standing on the quai at Port de la Tournelle. On the south side of the Seine, opposite the Île St-Louis, the buildings of which are lit by the sun on the right, one can see the Pont St-Louis, joining the island with Île de la Cité, and in the background the Tour St-Jacques (now cleaned up after such a long time under wraps). A little to the left of the scene is, of course, Notre Dame. If I had moved to the left to take the shot the Hotel de Ville would have loomed into view, replacing the Tour St-Jacques in the composition. Stand in the right position and you can see all of these, a couple of bridges and numerous passing boats all at once if you turn around.

I have discovered that this is my favourite place in Paris (so far), particularly in the late afternoon and at dusk. People sit happily on the quai, the moored boat restaurants open, and the many tourist boats and working barges continue to ply their business up and down. The sunlight reflected from the buildins on Île St-Louis, and the trees, caused me to take many shots over several days.

Hej Andrew,
have to say that your image has a far more pleasant mood than the one I posted in the same minute. It's a very dreamy and calm picture to be in paris , far away from the hurley burley city we've known..
the light on the facade on the otherside mkaes nice glow to the image and adds an even more romantic flavour to it.

Hi Andrew,
Beautiful and nostalgic atmosphere from Paris with splendid composition. Colours and lights are very nice, perspective is great. I like the attractive architectural details, superb shot, indeed. Have a nice weekend

Bonjour Andrew
Une très belle vue sur les quais parisiens. La lumière de fin d'après-midi donne de belles couleurs.
Merci pour le partage et bonne journée.

Hi Andrew,
What a superb atmosphere vith great light and colours.TFS.

Superb photo! A very good composition.
I like a lot this corner of Paris with warm meditarranean colours. the sequence of the trees matches the sequence of the people sitting in front of it: a charming atmosphere.

Hello Andrew,

I very much like the composition here, and how you have placed the various elements within it.

The line of the river, and the diagonals introduced by the buildings each side of it, guide our eyes towards the that distant church.

The figures on the bank in the FG - lazing in the side lighting of the evening sun, set such a peaceful atmosphere.

Lovely soft colours, and as always with your images, technically superb.

Hello Andrew. A fantastic motive. Excellent. Wonderful light and colors. Beautifully and worth seeing. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Hi Andrew,
A very clear and bright image, i think you worked a lot on it. But the end result is very nice, crisp and bright, high detail with excellent sharpness. Those people are essentiel and give the image a feeling that it's alive. Really great work, very well composed.
Have a nice weekend, Henk

Well hello there Andrew. And what a wonderful view at this port. I love the sweeping wide angle view, along with the people reclining at the quai. You also have managed to capture this in amazing light which brings added beauty to this capture. Thanks for sharing!

Hello Andrew, we were in Paris at the same time and ... yes, at the same place. IT would have been easy to cross ourself :-)
The touch of light is superb, it give a new dimension to the picture with some transparency somewhere. Yes, a peacefull moment, with all the magic of the places near the water.

Hi Andrew,
this is really a charming composition and I understand perfectly that you like this place. There is a nice atmosphere of relaxation.
Very beautiful colours and light.
Best regards

Hi Andrew .
Such nice and soft tones ! wonderful lighting and perspective. Good inclusion of the branch in the foreground.
Very romantic :o)
Have a nice weekend
Kindest regards

Excellent composition here using the curving river to lead the eye through the shot. The people add a great sense of scale to the shot as well as adding life. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail. The long shadows create nice lines as good contrast.

Hello Andrew,

A very peaceful and restful scene created by the relaxed couples on the river bank.
Then the nicely positioned river guides us to absorb more of the shot: the tall buildings, the distant church, before the lovely evening sunlight grabs the attention and moves us across the river.
A beautifully composed and detailed shot.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Andrew. A nice relaxed scene of this beautiful city bathed in warm light. I like the addition of the people relaxing by the Seine and the branches of the trees. Chris

Bonjour Andrew,

Hi andrew,
Your light is beautiful. The colours are perfect and the sharpness is good.

Bonsoir, cher Andrew,

Hello Andrew,
Superb lighting for this fine composition, which makes good use of the curving bank of the Seine at this point. The people relaxing in the late afternoon sun add much to the mood of the scene. A very good tribute to the City of Light & Romance.

Hello Andrew,

This is a fabulous image of River Seine with young Parisians taking advantage of the weather and the scenery. There is a surrealistic mood in the colors and placid atmosphere. The inclusion of the overhanging branches is of critical importance for framing the scene.

Warm regards,

Picturesque and idyllic, Andrew.
A great view of the Ile-de-France. A day for lazing around with great perspective and serene mood in the heart of a metropolis. Great curve of the river and great colors

Paris has so many beautiful little “corners” like this one. The Tour St. Jacques stands out nicely and the light is superb. I lived in Paris for two long time ago and I always dream to go back to the “most beautiful city in the world”. Well done.

Hi Andrew. Excellent photo. I love the way you have handled the light with its subtle colouring and maintained the texture of the sky. Good natural framing from the branches above also. Thanks for sharing.
Have a good weekend, Paul.

Hi Andrew!

Fantastic place, excellent photo! Not only a brilliant architecture photo, but also a great relaxed daily life scene! Excellent composition, framing and perspective, absolutely perfect light managment, beautiful "soft" colours! Congratulations!

Hello Dear Andrew
Excellent shot , every thing looks great , the light, the colors, the view...All are AMAZING .

Best wishes

Hi Andrew,
the colour and light on this are great. I really like how the sun is falling on the buildings in the middle. It;s good the way you included the sweep of buildings right across the image - it almost has the look of a wide angle lens shot. And the young people just chilling out on the bank in the foreground completes it. Lovely.

Hello Andrew, A very beautiful & romantic image captured in excellent colour & detail, the inclusion of the overhanging branches an excellent idea not only does it add depth but I also think some interest. A lovely scene. Well done.

Hi Andrew,
whole France-series is great, this one is best (for me).

Hi Stephen,

A beautiful sight on the resting side of the Parisian city. The light of end-of-day gives very pleasant colors to the landscape and a softness with the scene. I like much the framing which offers a beautiful depth to the image. Pretty glance.

With all my friendships and very good Sunday,

Hi Andrew,
you composed and framed this shot very well. The view is simply beautiful, very atmospherical thanks to the soft tones but what i like best is the inclusion of the people enjoying the coming evening; they brings a lot of life in and a wonderful mood. Quality is excellent throughout, with excellent sharpness and clarity. I really like it!
Thanks for sharing it and regards,

Hi Andrew,
Well framed with thius pov, good effect with this soft light and tree on the top of your composition.

G'day Andrew,

There's a lovely soft qaulity to this shot, and I can quite easily see why it would be one of your favourite spots along the Seine: your composition is 'picture perfect'.

Best wishes,

Hi Andrew,

do you plan to come back in Paris? If so, please tell me, I would really be glad if we could shot few picts together...

I like thes peacefull view of Paris and Seine banks... A bit "over-PPed" to me but still a great one...

Hi Andrew,
A lovely sight. I was there two weeks ago at night, so I gave the priority to the imposant Notre-Dame.
Anyway, I really like a lot the peaceful atmoshpere you show us. The depth is really good, as well as the sweet light which enhances your well choosen composition.

Hello Andrew,
A good idea to give that beautiful sky the biggest part on the picture..You have really
captured the feeling of people being in
Paris..Magic word indeed..
thanks for sharing

Hi Andrew
What an amazing gallery you have!!!!!
I love each on your picture!
This is a great example: a good contrast, a nice POV with the people on the banks of the Seine
Paris as we expect it!
