A snow blanket, Valleraugue

One view.
Another view.

The snow blanket on the chalets of the Espérou village, in the Valleraugue municipality, in the CÉVENNES, near the MOUNT AIGOUAL.

The CÉVENNES are mountains, part of the Massif-Central, extending in the districts of Lozère and Gard, whose culminating points are the peak of Finiels in Lozère to 1699 m, the AIGOUAL MOUNT in Gard with 1567 m.

The MOUNT AIGOUAL is a granitic mountain, culminating point to 1567 m of Gard and second culminating point of Lozere after the mount Lozere 1699 m, is a south-eastern projection of the Massif-Central mountain. It is remarkable by its panorama, its climatology. In clear weather, one discovers on 300 km of ray, the Mediterranean, the mount Lozere, the Mounts of the Cantal, the Pyrenees, the Alps.
One discovers there the top close of Portalet of 1565 m, and of course the large causses and the surrounding Cevennes.
The watershed between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean crosses the summit part. Several rivers take there their source of which Herault.

A weather station was built of 1887 to 1894, a such strong castle. Its weather observatory is the last in France, being occupied by the men. The climatic conditions are very hard, Aigoual recoit on average 2,5 m of rain per annum. In more than one table of orientation, the station proposes a museum on the history of meteorology.

The climatic conditions are very hard, Aigoual receives on average 2,5 m of rain per annum.
Some statements records:
Maximum temperature: 28,7 °C on August 11, 2003, minimal: -28°C in 1956.
Maximum speed of the wind: 171 km/h on average on a day, gusts exceeding 360 km/h on November 1, 1968.
Quantity of maximum rain of 24 hours: 607 mm enter on October 30, 1963 to 6 p.m. and on October 31, 1963 to 18h.
Maximum height of fresh snow cumulated in 1 year: 10,39 meters (winter 1995-1996).
Numbers average annual days of freezing: 144; days of heat 25 °C: 0; days of rain: 170; days of strong wind 16 m/s: 265; days of fog: 241; days when the ground is covered with snow: 118.
It is also the place of Metropolitan France where the most important office pluralities of rain over short periods are recorded, in particular during the ÉPISODES CÉVENOLS in autumn. The strongest annual office plurality, 4 015 mm was recorded in 1913.

VALLERAUGUE is a French commune, located in the department of the Gard of the Languedoc-Roussillon area, populated of 1070 Valleraugois in 2009, distributed on 78.4 km², that is to say 13.7 hab./km².

Valleraugue history.

Valleraugue is a municipality of the National Park of the Cévennes.

The Mont-Aigoual and the the river the HÉRAULT source, are on the territory of the municipality of Valleraugue.

_ The HÉRAULT is a coastal river of south of France of 160 km length. It takes its source in the department of Gard, in the Solid mass of Aigoual to 1228 m of altitude. It is thrown in the Mediterranean in Agde in the department of Herault. It crosses a catchment area of 2900 km². Its very irregular flow is of 52 m3/s on average annual, but can reach 4000 m3/s at the time of strong risings. After having been a descending torrent of the important slopes, it slips and is boxed in a valley bored in limestones of causses, then is spread out a little in the coastal plain. Its very irregular course and sometimes very violent one is not easy to domesticate. One finds however there some old forgotten mills, built like fortresses to resist the fury of his spectacular risings. The Hérault Description.

Bonjour joel

Pierre

Bonsoir Joel,
this is a beautiful picture, you've given it such an elegant and harmonious arrangement with very attractive depth. The colour of the chalet is lovely and eye catching but around it a very rich and fine palette of subtler natural tones can be found. The luminosity of the snow has been managed superbly and I really enjoy and find fascinating the intricate and effective play of shadows. Both of your workshop pictures are lovely too. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,
Ourania

Hi
I wish to live in a house in the woods, beautiful, fantastic, awesome, thank you for capturing these images with good clarity
all the best

Hi Joël,
Many pictures with winter motives are mainly containing white snow below a blue sky. Jere you have managed to add a house with a contrasting brown colour and this really increases the value of the picture. This is a very beautiful view and the timbered wooden house looks almost Nordic. An unusual style, I would guess.
Kind regards
Gunnar

Hello Joel,
very beautiful picture of this lovely place and surroundings. Wonderfully composed and framed as well. Splendid colors, sharpness, clarity. Flawlessly executed post. I love it. TFS.
Warm regards,
Barbara

Joël
L'image de ce chalet sous la neige est agréable mais je préfère quand même la vue plus générale du lieu que tu nous offres en WS.
Amicalement
JJ

Hello Joël,

This is again a wonderful winter image with this little house as subject.
A nice virgin place without feet steps.
Composition and presentation are excellent, also excellent sharpness and clarity.
Very well done, TFS.

Regards,
John.

Bonsoir Joel,
Brown wooden hut out there on the surrounding nature, under snow, is in great contrast.
Thick layer on the roof, amazingly holding/sticking on.
Lovely cold scene, depth onto the hills on far well collected in good clarity.
Au revoir,
Ike

Bonjour Joel,

The air tight wooden cottage seems to be warm inside although surrounded by snow. The bright sunlight and clear sky makes the picture look beautiful with the orange brown cottage. Nice view, TFS,

Ranjan
