I'm a New York City / Japan based photographer. Born in Honduras Central America and moved to New York City at the age of 7.
I'm really excited to have discovered Trekearth. There are many good photographers from all over the world here at Trekearth. It is so good to see how other people's view of the world are so different and also the same as mine.
I`m still from the old school of photography and prefer to use film rather than digital "I love the smell of hypo in the morning". I use both types of cameras for my work but for personal Black & White I always use film. I feel that part of me and who I am is on that negative...Digital allows me to have fun and do things I would never have done with film.
I'm very lucky to travel often to Japan, Taiwan and a few other places for my work.... I love taking all types of photographs such as landscapes, people, stock, sports and more. Recently I have been shooting fashion around Japan...
About Trekearth....A few months ago I made up my mind to teach more about the places that I travel to, rather than just posting a nice photo. It is nice meeting and talking to local people who live in out of the way places.. Once I met a stranger an old Japanese man who had a nice Hassebald..He saw my camera and told my friend something.. My friend translates to me..anyone who has a Mamiya camera must be a nice guy..
From February 2005 - February 2008 I had so much pleasure visiting Kaga-Onsen in Ishikawa Prefecture Japan during all four seasons to photograph the abandoned religous themed Amusement park (recently torn down) and Temple. I'm going through all the chromes and negatives now. It was a labor of love being in the snow, freezing rain and intense summer heat but very rewarding to me. The Homepage for Kaga is actually giving me a big headache now with all the scanning and planning...
.. My other passion now is traveling to Hokkaido and trying to photograph the volcanos. It is again a very slow process because I have to scout locations, angles and pray that mother nature is nice to me. Nice clear days are boring but rainy days with dark clouds are beautiful for Black & white work.
I have been blessed to travel all over Japan from Nagasaki to Asahikawa visiting small out of the way towns and eating so much of the local foods.
Feel free to contact me on about anything
