Louvre Reflections

The last couple of days I visited the wonderful French captital of Paris, together with TE-colleagues Stefan (Steft) and Martijn (marrty).
This was also a great opportunity to use my new camera (a Canon Powershot A 720IS), that I bought last week, for the first time.

My first picture is one of one of the most important and well-known highlights of the city: Musée du Louvre(or just Le Louvre). This photo was taken last Saturday and yesterday I also visited the museum itself.
This photo shows you a reflection of the museum in the modern pyramid of the new entrance in the courtyard of the museum. It was completed in 1989 and designed by architect I.M. Pei.

During our stay in Paris, we had lovely weather most of the time, as you also can see here.
I took almost 1,000 pictures (and then my memory cards were full), and out of all these, I think I can find enough pictures to post on TE, so I decided to create a travelogue for my trip to Paris. This photo will also be added to my Reflections-Theme.
Hope you like it!

Hello, Lars -

This is a clever juxtaposition, well done. You also handled a tricky light situation well. I wish you had managed to get the flag in the wind, but that's because I've spent so much time pointing at flagpoles waiting for the wind to do something for me.

At first I didn't care for the shadows in the lower left, but on looking at it some more I see that it is necessary. Nice framing!

Lars

A wonderful shot combining modern and traditional architecture.

I like the composition using the diagonal of the pyramid to split the image in half.

Hi, friend!
It is very nice photo. I very like your composition with historical buildings. I like your reflection. Well done.
Marek

Hi Lars,
a great POV you had chosen here! The broken reflections in the lower left tringle make up a very original composition.
Great job, thanks for sharing!
Günther

This is a place I know. Excellent sharpness and interesting use of the side of pyramid.

And "Le Louvre" is also the "Palais du Louvre", since the initial use was a royal palace...

All the best,

Emmanuel

hej Lars

Hello Lars,

Mooi werk geleverd, bedankt.

Groeten uit Vlaanderen,
John.

Hello Lars,
A creative point of view adds excitement to this composition!
Intriguing use of the reflection in this diagonal, good light and sharp finbe details in the architecture!

Bonjour Lars,

As a refelection hunter I can imagine you had great fun with the Louvre pyramids. This is a wonderful result and something different. Well done
Congrats on the new toy too.

Hej Lars
You captured wonderful lighting in this shot which has brought out the golden colours of the stonework. I like your compo and framing which gives us an original take of this famous museum.

Hej Lars,
a tilted Louvre, how funny :-) Excellent clarity and sharpness in the reflection like in the other part with an added puzzle effect by the construction of that roof. I like also the good exposure for light and shadow.

hello Lars
this is a very amazing picture, very original! The reflection is really astonishing because of sructure of the roof, which gives small reflections the ones beside the others.I like to see the beautiful monument behind this modern roof! The light and the colours are superb and give a real beauty to the picture!Very well done!

Hello Lars,

Very good point of view using nicely with the broken glass effect to provide an abstract feeling of the Louvre.
The exposure was well manage to let details even in the shadows but with the right level of saturation to highlight the warm color of the sun on the stones.

hi Lars,

Salut, Jordi

Hi Lars, What a wonderful piece of composition, the angled reflection gives several great images all blending into one, the architecture is magnificent & what brilliant light, a masterful piece of work, kind regards Wilson.

Ciao Lars,
today I have wanted to look at your gallery, and I have to tell you that you are a really good photographer. Your photos are always perfect and never banal. Among everybody, I have chosen this because it is genial, for the choice of the colors and, above all, because with a reflex you have absolutely mixed the ancient one with the modern one in an artistic way. I put her among mine prefer. Bravo!

Hello Lars,

Hi Lars,
This is an exciting shot and most fitting for a place like the Louvre where art takes centre stage. I like the crisp details of the facade bathed with just the right lighting and the vibration of the reflection provided most of the thrills. An appealing shot indeed!!

Regards and a nice weekend.

Olá Lars, I didn't notice you had a new camera. Congratulations. May be that's why I'm finding this travelogue of yours so good. Perhaps this first one is the best one until now, but I'm not sure and it doesn't matter. To make a new creative picture of this landmark is not easy and you did a superb composition. Love the division of the image in two perfect parts along the diagonal. The reflection is fantastic and the colors are very appealing. Congratulations.

Hello lars
An interesting point of view. The only remark I could make on this beautiful composition is about the bottom left corner. perhaps it could give even better result by copping it.

Again one of your beautiful reflection photos Lars.
I understand why you chose to split the frame in two, one part with the real subject and one part the distorted reflection, but i think it would have been interesting to see the whole building reflected like this instead.
But i like it.

the reflections are fun, and give a twisted look to the otherwise sophisticated Louvre.

Hi Lars,
it is a very photogenic spot. I probably have it as well in my TE gallery. You have captured the architecture at a great light -everything turns orange. Everything crispy sharp we can admire all the smallest details.
Very nice contrast of the sharp architecture with its smooth blurred reflection in the pyramide.
The latter adds a nice diagonal touch.
Excellent work,

This one didn't get quite as many points and yet, I like it as much, if not more ! I prefer the golden tone of the palace in this picture. Apart from that the idea was the same, but I understand why you chose to post this one first.
It was a good idea to shoot the place on different angles anyway.
Congratulations.
