|During the financial boom of the mid 80's many recreation places such as amusement parks were built all over Japan. When the bubble burst a few years later many of those same places went out of business. |
In the city of Kaga a religious themed Amusement park and Temple were built and opened in 1987. The Golden Goddess of Mercy measuring 73 meters high and holding a baby in her arms that is actually bigger than the famous Buddha of Kamakura.
This is Utopia Kaga no Sato Amusements park covered in the winter snow. I originally put this photo on Trekearth before but then took it off because I did not want anyone going there and taking any photos. The park was finally torn down in late November 2005. I started a website for all the images that I took during my visit there. I'm still editing and uploading my photos on the site. It became a personal project to me since the day I first discovered it
It is very difficult getting any information about the amusement park or temple in Kaga because most Japanese people don't like to talk about such failures.
