'Zeus, Leda, Prometheus and Pegasus Visit Bruges', a bronze sculpture by Belgian artist Jef Claerhout in Walplein, Bruges, Belgium.

Click here to see the larger Beta TrekEarth version.

Actually this is only part of the whole sculpture: Leda (and her swan) and Prometheus who are in the carriage driven by Zeus and pulled by Pegasus, cannot be seen. I really liked this quirky and irreverent take on a raft of Greek myths: Zeus like a bank manager in a bowler hat?? Jef Claerhout tells fantastic stories that his grandfather told him as a child: folkloric stories, in which humour, mythology and irony have been incorporated into fabulous figures, animals, birds and horses.

Here it is on Google Maps.

Hello Will,

Well, its a thing in theaters too that old stories are told in modern costumes instead of the dresses of the period. Sometimes it works, but when knights carry machine guns instead of swords, I leave in the break. :) Anyhow, the photo itself is excellent both in composition and processing.

Have a nice evening!
Gy

Hello Will, I really like this presentation and point of view.
Sharp focusing on Pegasus, and a slight blurring of the other parts of the sculpture, excellent.
The black and white keeps us focused on the subject without the distraction of colour.
Regards Jean.

Hello Will, I think I have seen this sculpture but I didn't know what it represents. Original composition and good choice of b&w. Very artistic presentation.

Kind regards MAlgo
