Another little picture from our cruise of some of the Norwegian fjords in April/May, here taken from our ship as we were about to dock at Bergen on a rather dull, drizzly and cloudy day.

Once the capital of Norway until Oslo succeeded it in the 14th Century, Bergen remains Norway's second largest city and still remains a major trading port.

ISO 400, 1/200 sec at F/5, focal length 52mm.

Hello John,
Looking at the larger version I find it so sharp I could almost see what's behind the windows. It also has a splendid clarity and very attractive colours. I doubt I could take such technically perfect photos with my simpler Powershot. Furthermore this is a well composed photo featuring beautiful details from the diagonal line of buildings high up on the hill to the reflections in the water.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi John, nice idea to show this part of Bergen, not the usual postcard with the old facades of Bryggen but a part before, that we can see arriving at the port. It's a beautiful pic,no doubts, the quality of details and colors is the best despite the cloudy day, very well done! Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello John,
Bergen is the most know rainy place in northern Europe, with 320 days annually. Nevertheless, its beauty compensate for its weather, as we see on this photo from the ferry.
A fine outcome.
Wish you a nice holiday's weekend,
Ike

Hello John,
It looks like a grey day with little sun, but luckily the city has got many bright and appealing colours on offer. The red and yellow houses and the orange roof stand out so well from the background. Also the reflections of the row of houses in the foreground are a real eye-catcher.

Hello John, I find pictures from this part of the world quite fascinating. I love the bold, bright colours of the buildings and the roofs, everywhere is so clean.
Every piece of land that can be built upon is utilised, so we see a large building atop a rocky outcrop, then more houses 'climbing' up the mountainside.
A good tight crop that seems to emphasise this use of the land.
Super sharp shot.
Regards Jean.

Bonjour, cher John,
La mise en image est parfaite pour nous présenter la ville (une partie) sous un aspect très intéressant avec ces façades colorées, ces toitures orangées, et ces maisons qui s'accrochent au flanc de la montagne.
Amitiés.
Philippe

Hello John,
The clarity is indeed amazing. The composition is well framed and perfectly exposed. Excellent colour contrasts despite the adverse weather conditions you mention in your note.

Une superbe vue sur Bergen, bon point de vue avec les reflets et les maisons colorées.

Hi John
were you able to meet up with Erling and his family? Not sure how much time you had here. We did, lovely man and lovely family :) Classic Bergen shot, i like the set up, its got that post card feel to it (which i love, not sure why others do not), and you captured it with the classic Bergen overcast weather too hahaha. Hope to see more shots from here.
Merry Christmas to you and your family John, all the best to you, i'm sure you're with family as i'm writing this :)
cheers
Craig

Hi John,
lovely view from this most attractive Norwegian town.
I really admire here the quality of the image.
Under such circumstances my camera messes up the colors and looses details.
The light was quite limited here. And yet you have amazing level of detail and fantastic natural and well saturated colors.
Great trip!
I wish you some new exciting trips in this New Year!
