The Spire of Dublin

A remarkable work of art in the centre of Dublin is the Spire of Dublin, a large stainless-steel needle of 120 metres. Alternatively titled the Monument of Light (Irish: An Túr Solais), it is located on O’Connell Street and was designed by Ian Ritchie Architects. It was installed in the winter of 2002-03 and stands at the site of Nelson’s Pillar, which was bombed and heavily damaged in an IRA attack in 1966.

Hello Lars, Haha, it is really difficult to show this spire, it is so high. such simple construction but so impressive. good idea of a collage.

Kind regrads Malgo

Hello lars,
First noticed how the beautiful weather prevailed in your Ireland tour, it is not obvious - but great you had.
The spear is atractive and unusual, well shown from street level up and its top's.
Wish you a nice new day,

Hi Lars,
Impressive tower, well presented with these two photos, perfect sharpness, nice light and colors with this sunny day, tfs.

Bonjour, cher Lars,
Cette flèche donne l'impression d'un immense paratonnerre (pardon pour cette comparaison) !
Voilà une sculpture peu commune...
Bravo pour la réalisation.

Dobar dan.
Lep pogled, dobar tekst ...
Dobar rad, lepo pokazano, dobra perspektiva i kontrast, lepe boje. Lep deo grada i skulptura.
Zelim vam lep i uspesan dan, sve najbolje.

Good day.
Nice view, good text ...
Good work, beautifully shown, good perspective and contrast, nice colors. Nice part of the city and sculptures.
I wish you a beautiful and successful day, all the best.

Ciao Lars
difficile da fotografare, ma hai avuto un'ottima idea nel mettere le due foto, in questo modo riusciamo a capire meglio il soggetto.

Witaj LArs!
Interesting spire, makes impression.
Good combination, excellent presentation.
I like frames and composition.
Nice colors and light.
Well done.
Nice day.

Hello Lars,
What an amazing monument/sculpture. Strangely I was not aware of it, or maybe I am old enough to have forgotten it ;-). It's quite beautiful, but somehow it doesn't really seem to fit the Dublin environment. It looks like a tribute to the Irish program for inter-continental ballistic missiles. But you captured this very tall structure cleverly, and it was a good idea to show the closer view as well. You even managed to find two trees to frame the needle.
Kind regards,

Hello Lars,

The Spire of Dublin is indeed a striking monument!
It dwarfs the surrounding buildings and must be visible from a long way away.
I particularly like how you have shown it with the sunlight striking one side, helping to emphasise its curved surface.

Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Hi Lars,

The artwork is impressive. The point of view is showing the details of the Spire of Dublin. The light is making the spire to shine. Have a nice day.

Hi Lars,
such an important Dublin landmark and yet very difficult to photograph. I like your second composition with the tree branches on both sides. They decorate the sky nicely.
Great idea to show two takes in one upload.
Excellent reportage,

Thank yoy for informative note.
Fine presentation.

Hello Lars,
Hmm, a sophisticated lightning rod, I hope they thought to ground it properly. I like the overall view in the left photo and the framing by tree tops in the right photo.

Hello Lars

Yep, when something like this or the Eiffel Tower is so high, the only choice you have is to place it centrally. Good sharpness and framing. Tfs!

Hi Lars

Groet Rob

Hi Lars
you know who would love this subject the most? Vlad the Impailer hahaha...bad joke :)

I remember seeing this in person after wanting to see it because of Noel's photos - where is Noel these days anyways, he doesn't post anymore.

the image on the left is very cool with the buildings leaning inwards creating depth and perception, and on the right we see the tip of the needle. lucky for you bc of the blue sky, very clear and easily visable.
