Spark - Multiflections
Stage of Being is the new collection exhibition of Museum Voorlinden
Stage of Being shows us how, over time, artists have depicted human beings with all of their emotions and instincts. More than 40 artworks in different media encourage us to reflect on who we are, our relationships to others and how we will be remembered long after we are gone.

Three pictures of the installation Spark. Spark, Spark of John Armleder.
A wall with 96 distorting mirrors give endless possibilities for creative images including selfies.

■ Main picture: ◙ Four Ladies discussing the installation.
■ Workshop 1: ◙ Nine out of Ninety-eight
■ Workshop 2: ◙ Full Screen.

John Armleder (born 1948, in Geneva) is a Swiss performance artist, painter, sculptor, critic, and curator. His work is based on his involvement with Fluxus in the 1960s and 1970s, when he created performance art pieces, installations and collective art activities that were strongly influenced by John Cage. However, Armleder's position throughout his career has been to avoid associating his artistic practice with any type of manifesto.

I add the dark frame to the picture to give the posts a screen format of 1920x1080 pixels
The idea is that, if you use the links in the text, you have a full screen image of the picture with the photo in the centre of a dark screen.
This works with the browsers and screens I use, but I’m not sure that everybody will have the same result.

Hallo Rob,

Ficou legal!

Hi Rob,

You have captured well the concentration pf the four ladies. The reflections on the artwork are assets to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the artwork and of the reflections. Have a nice day.

A very nice candid here. I like the use of the pov being off-center. well done TFS

Hello Rob, What a splendid occasion for the photographer, so many fine reflections! Nice view of these four ladies discussing what they see. And we can also see the photographer behind them. Excellent also the view of just the installation, with the great symmetry.

Kind regrads MAlgo

Hello Rob,
nice the snapshot with the four women to stay watching in front of the created reflections. The WS and especially the full screen completes perfect the whole scenery.

Hello Rob,
I like this photo so much I will keep it among my favourites. It's a perfect group portrait of the four ladies seen in a close-up from behind and and from a number of different angles. Their postures, and the many reflections, make the photo so vivid that I can imagine hearing them discussing the installation. This was a photo opportunity you just couldn't miss. The workshops are simply stunning too. You probably set a personal record of self portraits in this upload. This makes me think a bit of an installation I saw in Helsinki, somewhat using the same idea but with a different effect.
Kind regards,

Witaj Rob!
A very interesting effects.
View from museum makes impression.
Good frame and colors.
Nice scene.
I have a similar photo in the collection but in nature, a window.
See WS.
Warm regards.

Hello Rob,
I like how the group of four ladies are drawn together in a huddle allowing us to appreciate the rest of the artwork. Very good light management with well rendered colours and good sharpness. Very well observed and nicely realised this photo opportunity.

Hello Rob,

I am learning a lot about art and artists as well as enjoying some excellent photography!
I love these photographs, this main one particularly!
It is almost as if the four ladies are discussing the view of themselves in the distorting mirror, unaware that they are being shown to everyone in the room via the other mirrors.
It is sharp, it is well composed and it is great fun!

Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Hi Rob,this is very funny too! After the underwater works, today a new amazing suprise! It reminds a bit the italian pavillono fo EXPO 2015 where it were possibile to be reflected everywhere, from the ground to the top. Magnificent series of pics in the WS too. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hello Rob,

this is an interesting image, I like the game of the reflections you captured, the scene with the four women and the multiplections is beautiful, the WS photos are also amazing, well done,

Best regards,

Hello Rob,

An interesting note and three fabulous images of this fascinating art installation.

You have captured not only the installation and its remarkable images but also the real-life visitors who are not only the viewers but also the subjects - and they include the photographer too!

Each of your three images is superbly well composed and also has lovely light, rich colours and impeccable detail and sharpness.

Kind Regards,

P.S. Just one question - Workshop 1 does indeed have nine separate images - but why nine out of ninety-eight when Workshop 2, the "Full Screen", only has eight-four images? :)

Hi Rob
Great observation, nice colours and many reflections to cheer. This image tells an entire story at a glance-- wonderful that way. Excellent shot, Congrats
Best regards

Good use of these interesting reflections, stunning result. Composition-wise also really good in my opinion, avoiding symmetry.

Best Wishes,

Hi Rob,
interesting reportage. Following your workshop was surprising itself. The main photo with the ladies is clearly the winner with people introducing so much life and colors here.
Great addition to your favourite theme,
