Cathedral - Side altar.

Przemysl is a city in south-eastern Poland with, it became part of the Subcarpathian Voivodeship; it was previously the capital of Przemysl Voivodeship.

Przemysl owes its long and rich history to the advantages of its geographic location. The city lies in an area connecting mountains and lowlands known as the Przemy¶l Gate, with open lines of transportation, and fertile soil. It also lies on the navigable San River. Important trade routes that connected Central and Eastern Europe passed through Przemysl and ensured the city's importance.

The Cathedral of Przemysl officially the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. John the Baptist in Przemysl (Polish: Bazylika archikatedralna Wniebowziêcia Naj¶wiêtszej Maryi Panny i ¶w. Jana Chrzciciela w Przemyslu) is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Przemysl, Poland. It is the main church of the Archdiocese of Przemy¶l, located at the Cathedral Square in the Old Town.
The first cathedral of the Diocese was a wooden church which existed from 1375 to 1412, standing in the square beside the present church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. From 1412 - 1460 a Ruthenian Orthodox cathedral built of stone stood in the courtyard of Przemysl Castle which it was strongly associated with.
Construction of the present cathedral in the Gothic style began with the Chapter of Bishop Nicholas B³a¿ejowski in 1495. Only the walls and pillars remain from this building. The reconstruction was completed in the first decades of the sixteenth century. In 1578 the mayor of Przemysl, Secretary of the Crown - Jan Tomasz Drohojowski (d. 1605), founded the present chapel of the Blessed Sacrament. Founded on the site earlier rotunda St. Nicholas. Because of the continuous threat of incursions of the Tartars and Wallachians, it is a fortified church, surrounded by a wall and is equipped with a cannon.

Witaj Krzysztof,

Whether you are religious or not, churches, cathedrals, temples, etc, are always places to visit for a glimpse of art, history, sculpture and atmosphere. However, I don't think I have ever heard of a church incorporating a cannon before!
This side altar is very ornate and your photograph clearly reveals these details, besides capturing where it is situated.
Churches can be dark places for photography but you have succeeded here.

Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Bonjour, cher Christophe,
Cet autel avec ce retable est d'une beauté inouïe. Ce mobilier religieux est superbe.
Quel travail !
Très bonne journée.
Amitiés.
Philippe

Hello Krzysztof
Just looking at this attractive picture, not knowing that it was a picture of you, I should have known that this is a photo taken in Poland. The portrait of Pope John Paul II and his motto “Totus Tuus” is evident.
Interesting presentation.
Have a nice day. Groet Rob

Hello Krzysztof,
A very richly decorated altar, very impressive and certain to arouse strong feelings in the faithful visitors. You captured it with a fine exposure and good sharpness.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Krzysztof,

The subject is well framed. The point of view is showing the details of the secondary altar. It us clear and precise. Have a nice day.

Pierre

Ciao Krzysztof, great view of fantastic artwork, fine details, excellent sharpness and splendid light, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Bonjour Krzysztof,

Même si ce n'est qu'un autel secondaire, il s'impose toute de même là. La photo du pape est un peu dépassée et il y a beaucoup d'or autour comme si cela voulait dire quelque chose.

Amicalement

Serge

Witaj Krzysztof,

Perspective has been well managed and the fg altar with former Pope John Paul II is sharp. Focus seems to be drifting further back & at the top. Good exposure on the stained glass window at left. Often very difficult to get just right!
