Good Morning Everyone,

Please click on Plymouth Harbour to see this photograph much larger and clearer.

This is Plymouth Harbour on a day which was a combination of dark clouds and sunshine. It was the sort of day that we usually experience in April rather than August.

The dark clouds actually made a dramatic backcloth, whilst the sun helped to create long reflections on the water.

There was a theme of lobsters in the city whilst we were there. I think there was a trail you could follow. Anyway, though the ones overlooking the harbour were probably permanent lobster sculptures, I thought I would add them as workshops.

Sorry, Malgo, France will be coming soon!

It's our wedding anniversary today so I am being taken out for a meal. I hope you have a day that is just as enjoyable, Bev :-)

Hi Bev

This would make a good jigsaw puzzle! Wonderful reflections, good sharpness and vibrant color with nice repetition of the boats with strong warm cold colour contrasts between the red and blue. What's not to like? Tfs!

Hello Beverley,
When the conditions are right, the combination of sunlight and dark clouds can be really amazing and just that is the case here. The sunlight makes sure the bright tones of the fishing boats stand out so well from the background and the reflections are fantastic too. Happy anniversary and enjoy the dinner!
Lars

Hello Bev,
The reflections are truly delightful. I also like the overall ambient light and the vivid colours of the fishing boats. Excellent composition with an agreeable balance to it.

Hello Bev,
Happy anniversary! I will not ask how many years ;-)
Red, blue and yellow boats in a good light and a calm sea have created fine reflections, as could be expected. The clouds offer an equally spectacular view of nice shapes and nice tones of grey. Yes, this looks very much like April, when the weather could turn out any way and the conditions could change in 10 minutes. You managed a lovely clarity in this photo. But I must say that the Plymouth lobsters don't look those I have seen. They remind me more of dragons seen in medieval art.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello, Beverley!

The colorful boats and their reflections on the water look great here, in a typical harbour scene so full of interesting details to see, everything captured with excellent light and sharpness! Wonderful composition!

Hi Bev,
A spectacular capture from the port. The contrasts are perfect to create such an artistic result. Well observed.

Daniel

Bonjour Bev,

Avec le temps et de nombreuses années en photographie, j'en suis venu à trouver que ces ciel gris et nuageux sont les plus beaux comme contraste avec une belle lumière sur les choses comme les bateaux.

Amicalement

Serge

A very quiet image with the fishing boats in the port.
You chose a nice moment, when we see the colourfully reflections in water.
Also the sharpness and clarity of the boats make impressio, nice structure of the clouds.
I can enjoy of the perfect cloudy sky.
Very well done, TFS.

An excellent detailed photo, very attractive subject and perfect realisation, great colors of boats and ships and as contrast the dark sky, my compliments Ryszard

Hello Beverley, you managed an excellent vantage point from which to take this shot. And you were fortunate, that day to have a good selection of fishing boats to include in the scene.
A mixture of sunlight and cloudy sky, it is lovely.
The rippled water made nice reflections.

The sculpture that you have posted in the workshop is affectionately known as the Barbican Prawn! Not a lobster at all,(it is actually a sculpture of a strange fish.)

Happy Anniversary.
Best wishes
Jean

Hi Bev, very good view of this interesting port, very well composed and captured in this good and beautiful photograph. An interesting image, with good sharpness, depth, light, color and quality. Very good and beautiful work perfectly done, my congratulations my friend. Thank you for sharing this interesting work.

Good night and happy weekend.
All the best from the south of Spain.
Angel.

Hi Bev
congrats on your wedding anniversary! enjoy your dinner, hope its special :)

when I looked at this scene, immediately it reminded me of Steveston in Richmond, a city just outside of Vancouver. Its very similar. love the cloud coverage, love the light striking the boats too. and those lobsters are pretty cool dont you think? what can I say? looks awesome

Hello Beverley ,
That is a splendid port scenery , with of course the colorful boats , but also the fine reflections in the FG and the splendid cloudy sky in the BG .
Regards

Hi Bev,
wow, the light was magnificent!
It is a charming harbour scene with so much color and plenty of attractive sea related elements.
But it is the light which transforms it into a real spectacle for the eyes. The clouds have a lovely pattern -again being a bit darker than the brightly lit foreground. The latter also allowed a very vivid and colorful reflection in the water.
Very impressive view, excellent work,
M

PS Happy Anniversary!

Hello Bev
Congratulation with your wedding anniversary. I wish you a great day and a delicious meal. Maybe lobster is a good idea 😊
I like this overview picture of the harbour of Plymouth, but I like the two workshops even more. Excellent how you found these two different backgrounds from the same POV
