I may have mentioned that I belong to an astrophotography group. During Milky Way Season - which is about May to October in Australia - we go on several midnight outings. This was one of them. One of my fellow astronerds was doing a time lapse sequence, so had time to walk around a bit - right into my frame. Rather than ruining the shot, I think his torchlight, pointed up to the heavens, actually enhanced the scene.

Yarramundi is a beautiful nature reserve. Named after the chief of the Richmond Tribes, Yarramundi was a proud leader of the Boorooberongal clan of the Darug people, and was a garadyi or "doctor".

Hello Lisa,
Human presence is never really wrong in any photo, Surprises can be good things too. I think your friend's torchlight actually adds a dimension to this photo. He has almost become the "star" of this Milky Way shot.
Kind regards,

Hi Lisa,
The view is just fantastic. Such results are certainly worth the effort. Yes, that lamp gives funny impression of illuminating the sky. He looks surprisingly stationary, even though the exposure time must have been fairly long.

Hello Lisa

This one turned out really really good. The flashlight is a big plus, as is that song title reference, of course.

Big cheers!

Dear Lisa,

I agree with you. The use of torchlight resulted in a very pleasing picture. I have to add it to my favourites.

Best Wishes,

Hello dear Lisa, very good photograph of this beautiful and interesting night composition with a beautiful starry sky, very well captured in this beautiful image, with good clarity, light, color and quality. Great and interesting work perfectly done, my congratulations, my friend. Thank you for sharing this beautiful work.

Good day and happy week.
Best wishes from the south of Spain.

Hello Lisa,
Fantastic photo of so many stars. It's hard to see the Milky Way from where I live, there is way too much light pollution here. The light from the torch is a great detail too and I also like the reflections in the motionless water.

Hello Lisa, I remember your other pictures of the stars. Australia is fantastic place for such observations. The camera of the photographer is like a big star. Stunning view, awesome colours and sharpness.

Kind regrad s Malgo

Ciao Lisuccia

Hi Lisa
Inspirational! An adventurous technique with a combination of unnatural lighting - wonders of using in-focus sparkling torchlight in a natural environment.
That's turned out strikingly good and you can guarantee that none of us will have this kind at shot on our cards. The main image is particularly pleasing, the detail in the Milky Way is incredible even the dust lane showing nicely and beautifully exposed of this stunning location under this gorgeous astronomical phenomenon, with some fantastic blue tones and a lovely still feeling!

Thanks for describing your effective work flow where the end result justifies all the hard work and the early start. Incredible capture, Congrats
Best wishes

Hi Lisa,
Excellent ! Great result, a difficult light capture perfectly managed, well made, bravo !

Hi Lisa

Sevy has produced the same kind of picture; the light coming from the camera seems to evaporate in the blue sky and be transformed into the shinning stars.
hats off

Hello Lisa,

It must be great fun going out at night with a group of like-minded friends to photograph the heavens.
You seem to have caught a falling star!

It's a beautifully composed photograph, captured in a range of blues which add mood and mystery.
I like how the silhouetted trees make a symmetrical separation line, a bit like those that you cut from a piece of folded paper.

Have a great day,
Bev :-)

Ciao cara Lisa, favolosa notturna, fantastica vista della via Lattea e magnifici riflessi, magnifica esposizione, bravissima, un caro abbraccio, Silvio

Hello, Lisa!

The stars look great in this incredible night shot, captured with perfect exposure and interesting silhouettes and reflections on the water! Wonderful composition! Very well done!

Hi dear Lisa
Fantastique nocturne réussi a tout point vue excellent!

Hello Lisa,
Beautiful blue night under the Milky Way ! As you say, your colleague and his torch light look very effective, as if the light was a star come down to Earth from the Milky Way !
Good reflections in the lake too.
Have a good weekend.
Best regards.

Hello Lisa,
This is very beautiful. The shades of blue, together with the stars and reflections in the water create a magical scene. I think the gentleman with the torch is a nice addition to the composition, too.

Hello Lisa,
The name 'Milky Way Season' sounds already exciting to me.
This is truly a sublime picture!
Both the fantastic starry sky beautifully in blue as the lower section with the water, the banks and the reflections.
Best regards, Paul

Hey Lisa
Sorry, I've missed a number of your most recent shots, what's going on there? I'll get to them today later on. I'll take a gander at this one, then I have to head out for a few hours.

this sounds like a cool club to be involved with, one that I'd want to join as well. Here in Van, I'm in a Photo Walking Tour group. I learn so much about my own city each time. its a group of photohogs like me, and 1 tour guide who has tremendous historical knowledge about the city. So we go walking around, 1 part of the city is chosen...like Chinatown for example, and we explore that for about 2-3 hours. The guide brings a photo album of how the city and its buildings looked like 120 years ago etc etc....its really really cool. We listen to the guide, take photos, listen to the guide again. last time we went downtown east side, the drug haven of Vancouver! I learned where all the brothel houses were back in the late 1800's, and they're still there - but of course now regular homes. I would never have known that! so cool.

your shot here makes me envious, this is something I wish I did more often but I don't. it makes blue hour photography look like child's play.

You got the milky way there, and i like the effect of the headlight and the sand on the bottom left side too. fun times!

I'm off to NY city on Tuesday, for 6 nights, going solo again, but i'll meet up with Brenda. Cheers

Hello Lisa
Great view of the milky way here and yes, your colleague walking in to your shot really enhances the scene with his torchlight. Now astrophotography, especially shooting the milky way or star trails is something I wanted to have a go at for some time yet. But unfortunately I never seem to be at the right time at the right place ...
have a great time
