I would eat them, but less eagerly after seeing pictures like this. I saw this many times mainly in China, and didn't lose my appetite, but maybe I was less squeamish 30 years ago. Maybe with advancing age I have become more aware of everyone's right to die with dignity. This is not a beautiful photo but a good and relevant document of daily life in a part of the world far from our own.

A not uncommon sight in many South-Eastern countries. Excellent informative street capture, very well realised.

your pic and the POV could have been better, but it gives a very good idea of animal transport in those regions!!

I thought "not for vegetarians" and then I read your note to realise you were one... I'm not, so I'm probably a hypocrite when I say I'm very sorry for the brutally treated animals, both in Asia, when it's done openly and in the west where you just hear stories happening behind the closed butchery doors.
As for the image - great, perfectly timed shot with cultural connotations and strong sense of place. Good addition to your brilliant street life collection.

Si on regarde les têtes des poulets on constate qu'ils sont encore vivants. L'opération doit être assez traumatisante et cela doit crier très fort. Un moment unique parfaitement saisit.

I think that Kasia's opinion is far more the best on western hypocrisy. If would see dogs suffering on the picture, I would n't say anything nice to those causing it.

I'm not vegetarian but I've never seen chickens moved about like this. What strikes me is the range of colors in the feathers. Most chickens I see are without feathers so that's a new site to me. Com subject and photo

Typical street scene from Vietnam, Will. The reflection in the helmet adds to the charm here. Is that a tour bus?
I often feel the difference between the way they treat animals over there and here is mostly how visible it is. In the west animal cruelty happens inside factories.

Surprising daily life shot.
Yes, quite different picture. No big slaughterhouses there. Some of those hens look around and wonder with their little brains what's going on.

Hello Will, that is one unusual sight!
The poor birds have their feet tied together, but nevertheless they seem to be quite curious about the passing scenery.
Well done for capturing this shot.

Hi Will,a difficult pic to watch for the animalists but not alone, for me too is bit hard to watch how these chickens are transported...but this is a local culture and maybe it must to be respected, the pic is very original and very well done with fine details and bright colors.Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano
