This is a follow up from my last photograph, taken a little later when we stopped to eat our sandwiches near the little hut which you can just see in the distance in that picture.

Here we are looking back over the Coulter Reservoir towards the hills just south of Biggar which had a light covering of snow from the night before. The wind had died, the sun shone brightly and we had this magnificent view while enjoying our lunch!

You can clearly see the location if you click on Map:view.

Hello John,

What a lovely panorama view about a wintery area.
Starting to the fence walking to the small Lake nice between the mountains..
Technical a very well picture, also a lovely subject.
You create much depth and perspective.
Composition and presentation are very nice.
Well done, TFS.

Have a nice day,
John.

Hello John,
Indeed, a spectacular view for an al fresco lunch. I like the framing offered by the gate, whose rusty tones complement those of the landscape. Beautiful colours and lights and superb depth. A true delight to view.

Hello John ,
Amicalement

Ciao caro John, fascinating winter landscape, beautiful reflections in little lake, fantastic light and wonderful colors, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Excellent winter landscape, well framed and played in the most beautiful colors of winter, a well made picture.!
Regards
Adrian

Hello John,
I understand that most of this snow is already gone. It looked nice while it lasted. Actually the rather thin layer of snow, with lots of dry grass looking through it, may have made the hilly scenery even nicer by giving it a yellowish tone to match the trees surrounding the reservoir. I can tell you that some snow in the countryside is a lot nicer than heavy snowfall in a city totally unprepared for the chaos of winter in mid November. But clean snow in a fine light looks terrific, at least when as perfectly exposed as here.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello John,
Très joli ce petit lac au creux des montagnes. Un beau combiné d'automne/hiver avec une lumière splendide. Très jolie photo, j'aime beaucoup.
Amicalement,
Gigi

Hello John,
It is a fantastic landscape and it looks even more appealing covered by this thin layer of early snow. I really like the combination of the gentle sunlight in the foreground and the darker, grey clouds in the background. You composed the photo very cleverly and included the fence perfectly in the foreground.

Hi John
Is there such a thing as snow envy? If so I think I have it :) today was another bright sun blue sky 9 created November day in Dublin, and as hard as they push Christmas, it won't work when it's warm. I love the show for photography and this why, the rust gate is cool and the same colour as the reservoir, creating a unique lead line into the landscape. Thanks for this note on my portrait post too, I didn't see the trump connection either but after reading the comments, kind of can. I agree though, this woman looks as kind as can be, smithy physical resemblance is where the connection stops
Cheers
Noel

hello John
Encore une très belle photo de coin de pays.
La fine couche de neige crée avec la végétation un graphisme intéressant. La lumière est aussi très agréable.
Bonne soirée
Roland

Hello John,

What a great day for walking!
Can there be much better for a photographer than snow and sunlight!
The shadows look superb when set on the surface of the snow, revealing the gentle undulations as well as the deeper depressions.
I like how the footprints lead around the f/g features to guide into the wider view.
It's beautiful how we can see the greens and the bronzes in association with the snow; they add warmth to a cool scene.

Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Hello John
Walking in the snow is always a great pleasure for me. Most people hates snow, but I like it.
Unfortunately we don’t have often snow in Holland. There are even years without and snow and it seems to decrease with the climate changing.
Looking at your marvellous picture I can feel the clear cold air of a lovely winter morning.
Thank you.
Have a nice day
Groet Rob

Olá John,
realmente um local privilegiado para o almoço, talvez o clima não seja dos melhores, mas a paisagem é estonteante. Belo trabalho.
Parabéns e Abraço,
Lucas

Hi John,
I have written to people that snow and blue sky rarely coexist together in the UK but clearly I was wrong. May be my observation is true just for the North East England.
Spectacular scene. I like very much the little lake surrounded by snow covered hills.
Nice use of the fence as a foreground. Interesting light with attractive shades on the snow.
Breath taking scenery,
Great quality work.

Hello John

Gorgeous landscape, and so different from what we have at the moment in Hampshire. The space, the snow, the emptiness... But maybe a trifle cold for a picnic?

Kind regards

Will

Caro Giovanni

Wow what a beautiful scene and a wonderful series of photos from your previous to this. I've never walked in the snow, it looks like a lot of hard work. Was it arduous? Anyway, a gorgeous winter scene, and I particularly like the contrast of golden light and colours in the centre of the image, which certainly commands the eye to this point in the photo. Stunning sharpness and perfect composition. Congratulations.

Un abbraccio e buon weekend
Lisa

Hi John
my friend my friend, I feel as if you've jumped off the face of the earth. Its great to hear from you, and hope all is well with you and your family.

But I also understand, there are times when we just need to take a break from TE to get re-energized again.

I wonder how this scene looks today on June 26th, I bet its much different. Will it look even better in Autumn???

the meandering hills add so much depth, its like the continue on and on and on. a very pleasant day for sure, lovely warm light on a brisk day, the charming fence adds alot too. Hope you see you back soon!
cheers
Craig

It looked really cold in Nov.. The detail and the colour balance are superb.
How time's passing by, John.... When we bought the little camera, it was the beginning of Canon M, and nowadays it's M6 now, and the price is almost £600! Do you think it is 6 times better than ours.:-D. Your photo proves that's all done your fantastic photographic skills...A wonderful shot, beautiful indeed.
