Hi Will, this is a very artistic pic! A great way to show us this unlucky people, not only the 4 men,but a magnificent scenery in background too,an excellent idea the black and white to give a special atmopshere to this cloudy day! Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

These four vagrants apparently oblivious to you make a stark contrast with the background scene. I like the interaction between the two groups one stood up, the other sat down. The dog seems to be in a different world altogether intent on something out of frame. Excellent street candid perfectly suited to the black and white treatment.

Your camera and lens are both of high quality, but you work very gladly in black and white, this is a choice of the photographer.
You has no grain with ISO 400 normally 100 ISO is correct.
The vagrants and dog together have is nice break, with wine and bread.
Sharpness and clarity are perfect.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice weekend,

Au moins pour ces personnes sans abris, la soirée ne semble pas trop froide dans cette partie du monde. Le vin sera bon pour réchauffer les cœurs plus que les corps. Le noir et blanc accentue l'impression de documentaire de l'ensemble.

An excellent specimen of candid street photography is this! And your conversion to black and white adds a wonderful "grittiness" to the scene and to the air of desperation and misery of this little group of homeless people. Their sad mood is accentuated by the dark surroundings and their only hope of cheer is from the companionship of each other and their faithful dog, some meagre food supplies and a bottle of wine.
A superbly well taken photograph with fine contrasts and textures and excellent details and which conveys the mood perfectly.

I saw in John's critique that "grittiness" is the correct English word to describe this, so I'll use it as well. You combine a regular tourist photo with a social study in quite an unusual way (at least for TE). I suppose the Granada tourist board won't like this photo, but I do. You follow a tradition of great candid street photography that is usually found in galleries and this books.
I see you take photos according to the words of Robert Capa, and you do it well. As you mentioned it is a candid shot and not a paparazzi style photo. John and Gert say its gritty and I agree. It is and it fits the topic well.
Excellent shot! I 'faved' it!

oh my god... PLACETA CARVAJALES, EL ALBAICIN, GRANADA....I dare you to say that 5 times in a row really fast, bet you can't do it! lol thats a mouth full.
as a dog lover, I feel more for the dog...is that wrong to say? probably...oh well.
I'm more interested in the view, its a great view and easy to see why they'd want to pick this bench. I would have as well.
a fine textured shot with the rooftops, and it scales up high as it extends up the frame. nice work

A pic worthy of more attention than it has been given, so sad feel for them in this weather, but love this close candid; subject/s, angle, what you did atmospherically etc. it suits mono adding the gritty edge to the scene and nice background in total contrast to the subject. It's amazing to see what some people endure that does make us feel grateful. The composition makes this especially poignant. Well shot, Congrats

A nice way to combine this famous structure with the reality of life. It must be horrible to not know where to sleep on any given night never mind in cold winter. The black and white works really well in this photo.

A good combination of a documentary shot and impressive background. Wet looking weather gives a proper idea of how it is not easy living like that.

Beautiful moody picture with a characteristic scene of the vagabonds’ street life before an unexpected background. For me a surprising choice for black and white for this possible colorful figures.

Very nice b&w capture from Granada with those 4 vagabonds and their dog, fully in their typical own element.
Who knows, maybe they have a far better lifestyle than ourselves !
TFS and have a nice weekend
