I proceed with my re-discovered photos from Nepal in the autumn of 1972.

Here is another photo from somewhere in the old part of Kathmandu, an area filled with Hindu temples and statues. Outside most temples there were women selling fruits, nuts or other snacks to the visitors, like this elderly woman selling peanuts.

What else could I say? I could only add that this was as usual a scan of a Kodachrome slide. You can see a larger version here.

Hello Gert, very good view of this interesting scene from everyday life with peanut vendor. Well composed and captured in this good and beautiful photography. An interesting image with good sharpness, depth, light and color. Very good and nice job perfectly done, congratulations my friend. Thanks for sharing this interesting work.

Good afternoon and happy weekend.
Warm greetings from southern Spain.
Angel.

Hello Gert,

Another great shot from the days of the past.Lovely colors and sharpness. But this looks like from the 90s.Very well done.TFS.

Regards,
Farhat

Hello Gert,

Apart from watching people, which I always find interesting, I love the features that are surrounding this peanut seller. There is no doubt that this is far away from England. I wouldn't have to be much of a detective to recognise the features of dragons, ornate metal work as street decoration and large slab stoned roadways, to know that this was not local!! But, I love it, it tells of culture, of a different way of life, though the selling of food in the street must be common to most places!
A wonderful journal of your adventures.

My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Gert,
more then 40 years alter thers is so much changed. Nice documentation

Hello Gert,

I'm sorry that I have been absent from TE for a little while - other things taking up my time - as well as yet more technical hitches on TE, I see.

Anyway, this is a delightful candid photograph from over forty years ago and from a place which I should very much like to visit. The peanut-selling lady is perfectly placed in the frame and also stands out perfectly, largely on account of the light coloured clothing she is wearing. Another lady is partly seen off to the left but of interest are the two fierce and horrific looking dragons overlooking the peanut seller and, presumably, guarding the entrance steps of the temple.

Excellent quality for a very old Kodachrome slide and very good scanning and processing too.

Excellent!

Kind Regards,

John.

Another interesting scene from the past, I admire the quality of this old scanned photo, my compliments

Ciao Gert, lovely deily life composition with fantastic entrance, splendid light and wonderful colors, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Hello Gert,
the lady looks worried and, considering both her expression and gesture, I wonder if she was trying to keep flies away. I like how she is placed in the composition, minding her business and being surrounded by a lot of interesting details, a little cultural mosaic. The dark stairway is mysterious and captivating, the colours match the exotic theme excellently. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,
Ourania

Hi Gert!
It's very well scanned, the quality is great and the scene is so well framed- the seller, the beautiful sculptures and even that little silver jar. Everything's on the right place and I like the light here.

Ciao Gert
un bel colpo che viene da lontano, da oltre 40 anni.
Una splendida composizione, mi piace quella porta aperta con la scala, e mi piace come hai decentrato il soggetto, ma il particolare che rende tutto pių bello č il movimento del braccio.
Saluti
Carlo

Hello Gert,
Fine capture of this woman earning her daily bread by selling her merchandise in a popular spot.
Well composed with the lions at the entrance and the stairs and all of the details of the carving at the doorpost perfectly visible.
thanks and regards,
Gerrit

Hello Gert! Amazing archive shot. Superb quality. Interesting scene and scenery. Sophisticated saturation. Good effect. Well done!

Bonjour Gert,

Un beau retour dans tes archives.J'avais 22 ans ā l'époque et je ne crois pas que pour moi, l'idée d'un voyage était le Népal. Une belle scčne avec ce vendeur du temple et le flou dans son mouvement.

Amicalement

Serge

Very nice documentation of the daily life of people, I hope this vendor sold a lot of peanuts to support the family. Too many poor people in this world and it's very sad situation. Good pov and nice details. Well done, tfs.

Hi Gert,
This image is 9 years older than me :P. What a great travelling document to discover for me! The world looked more friendly then...
Great shot, have a fine weekend.

Hello Gert,
another interesting scenery and theme about the daily life in Nepal. Good quality of scan. Fine natural pose of seller. Well done photo.
Have a nice evening.

Hello Gert,
Very interesting shot of this woman working at the side of the street selling peanuts. She seems to have found a strategic place right at the entrance of the temple to sell her goods. I like the expression on her face, which shows the effects of a hard life. A very interesting photo and an equally interesting report. Very well achieved and well spotted.
Have a nice weekend.
Jean

Hi dear Gert

Great and precious archive from you again!
Slow shutter setting makes so good sense and well work.
Tasteful color touch is also so nostalgic to see.

All the best and have a good weekend! Takero

Hi Gert
A flavour of local life, capturing the feel of the place, very real and just love this kind of picture that you have chosen just about the perfect viewpoint and approach straight out of a film the way this works together as social observation and in the way that real life is. He is totally engrossed and appeared to be totally oblivious to the things going on around him and you have just the right amount of everything in the frame! This shot conveys your objective really well. Congrats
Best regards

Hej Gert,
Gunnar

Dear Gert
I was born in the summer of 1972, your photo from is Nepal older couple months.
Your analog photos are a real treasure for us as we return to the past.
The old lady who sold on the street in front of the temple is a fantastic motive.
I do not understand so much its scan photos from negatives but the result is excellent.
Have a nice weekend.
Saša

Hej Gert
Yet another sublime peek in to a life long gone by. I wonder how much has changed at a place like this or does it still looks more or less the same ...
The guided and intricate decorations of the temple are beautiful and the peanut seller adds a nice touch of life to the scene.
hejdå och trevlig helg
Daniel

Hello dear Gert and have a nice time

Hi Gert,

I wonder how it has changed there after forty years. Probably the seller would use mobiles but otherwise I suppose it looks the same. Many interesting details here to look at. Beautiful scene but I would like to see also the view of the temple. Splendid colours.
I have made a long trip this year already but these photos from Nepal are inspiring :)

Hello Gert

It was still possible to spot similar scenes to this 30 years later when I visited Nepal in 2000 and again in 2002. Good sharpness and I like the motion blur of the woman's right hand here (really her left hand) and the superb capture of this charming daily life scene. Tfs.

Hello Gert,

very fine scan of one of your older pictures from Nepal.Very good composition, fine colors and sharpness. I like the shot very much.Very well done.TFS.

With regards from Luxembourg

Hi Gert
always a welcome sight to see these old time scenes.
I wonder what tat small silver tin is for? the one on the ground next to her.

wicked scene beside and behind her, the details are quite unique from my eyes anyways...perhaps not so unique from this part of the world.

that's ALOT of peanuts lol

PS
I remember you saying you like to travel light, so I doubt you'll be traveling anytime soon with a telephoto lens :) right?
It does have its benefits though

cheers

Hi Gert
Fascinating everyday scene. I like the contrast between the simple stall and the intricate details of the shrine behind the seller. The sheer number and variety of these small temples in old Kathmandu is simply mind-blowing. I wasn't quite prepared for what I was to experience.
Best wishes
Kasia

Hello, Gert,
I think Jesus said nothing about trading in the Hindu temples, right? I like this daily life scene, I did like peanuts, but today I prefer other nuts, almond or hazelnut, for example.
I forgot ask you about the Maoist fighters activity in Nepal in these years.

I have to say you about your question, that gate in Myiajima is the same famous gate. No more. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Itsukushima_Shrine....

Best wishes,
Serghei

Hello Gert,
It is a beautiful scene of daily life unfolding before this beautiful building. Anyway, this is a delightful photography from over forty years ago.
Best regards.
Gigi
