A shot taken in the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanic Gardens, Pamplemousses, Mauritius, celebrates the tropical lushness of the lotus pond.

Details about the gardens can be read here: http://www.mysterra.org/webmag/mauritius/pamplemousses-garden.html

Please take the time to look at the WS version of this shot, I have had trouble with the way that TE has handle the colour of the upload and it's still not right. Yesterday I removed the same shot after experiencing the same problem. Today it can stay!

Hi Rosemary,i been there a year ago and it's a great pleasure to me to watch this magnificent memory from this fabulous gardens, great and rich composition very well done as usual.Have a nice evening and thanks, luciano

Ciao Rosemary
ecco dove eri, in un meraviglioso giardino, molto vicino a ciò che pensiamo del paradiso.
Un bellissimo ricordo, immagino che dal vivo sia favoloso.
Ben tornata e buon anno a tutta la tua famiglia.

Hi Rosemary,
Great to see you post, and you post a beautiful garden filled with the most unusual flowers! I have seen these plants before but never with the flowers standing so tall and proud like this. The leaves also have a very cool serrated edge to them. You broke the photo convoy into thirds, as we enjoy the calm dark water, then the tall flowers craning their necks like meerkats, and then the dense plantlife beyond. It's a fine image and one that mes think, despite the beauty of the flowers, what lurks below the surface of that water!
Best wishes

Hello Rosemary,

This is a delightful photograph and the lovely summery light and colours are aleady cheering me up on this cold, dark and wet and windy day in Scotland.

Your composition is excellent, your photograph consisting almost of three separate layers - the foreground pond with its lily leaves and lovely reflections of the blue sky above; the mid-ground with bright green foliage and white flowers; and a fine darker backdrop of ferns and bushes.

Kind Regards,

P.S. Yes, I agree: the colours in your main photograph appear far too saturated, particularly yellows and reds, and your workshop photograph (although I have never been to Mauritius) has colours which to me look far more natural - and far more believable too. Maybe I should try posting a picture today (in colour) and see what happens.

Hello Rosemary,
A superb capture of this well stocked lilly pond. I like the layered effect and the contrasts in tone. Perfectly exposed and with excellent colours and clarity.

Hello Rosemary,
I don't quite remember what I tried to tell you yesterday, but I am sure I pointed out that it is a magnificent composition. I think some painters from fairly long ago could have imagined the tropics like this, based on hearsay. I didn't save any copy of the first version, so I can't make any comparison, and I don't see a huge difference between this version and the WS, although this one seems more saturated. I get a feeling that many photos look rather different on different monitors. Craig often complained that his photos were totally blurred when I found them nice and sharp. On the other hand I have found a few of my own photos appearing here considerably darker than the original, but others have assured me they looked fine on their screens. TE is a strange place.
Kind regards,

Ciao Rosemary
Ciao e buona serata

Hi Rosemary
Beautiful image with wonderful colours. I like the layered composition with well-chosen foreground. The shapes and patterns are amazing.
Best wishes

Hello Dear Rosemary,

Happy New Year! I was wondering if you went somewhere for holidays. Mauritius! What a gorgeous garden and excellent presentation. Amazing lotuses and these colourful leaves, and of course palm trees behind. I haven't seen the photo yesterday but this one seems to me perfect. Fantastic colours and composition. I do not why but it reminds me the paintings by Henri Rousseau.
Only two weeks for me and I will see, I hope, Cruz del Sur:).
Warm regrads MAlgo

Hello Rosemary,
Wow! What a stunning capture in your gallery! The palette of intensive colors made the view so unique and eye-catching in my opinion. Perfectly executed and vertically composed scene. Excellent work, bravo!

Hi Rosemary,
Superb image in great natural colors. You've managed to capture perfectly this nature's work of art. Well done!

Très bonne photo de cette végétation luxuriante étagée sur plusieurs plans dans cette composition verticale.

Hi Rosemary

Nice saturated colors to enhance the nature in Mauritius; I would have cropped the palm trees, insisting only on the leaves and flowers.
Best wishes for 2015

Happy 2015 Rosemary.
see you have been on your travels again and what an amazing place to visit. I love the way you have composed and executed this shot it is delightful. Strange the difference between the main shot and the workshop. Saturation and vibrancy certainly seem enhanced, but it is hard to ascertain why the site would do that to the main image and not the workshop too. It is getting a bit weird here now and I am unable to understand why, other sites do not seem to have these problems. Still cannot access the forums to gauge the feelings of contributors here.

Have a good week- B.

Hi Rosemary,
A beautiful and very colourful picture. A foreground with dominating red, a midground with light green colours and a darker background. All parts in perfect harmony.
Kind regards

Hello, Rosemary!

It's a wonderful garden, captured with excellent bright colors, and the colorful leaves on the water are the most beautiful part of this image, in my opinion! Wonderful composition! Excellent job!

Hi Rosemary,

I agree with tyro, and I have made my version in WS!

I frequently have trouble with colors too, but I think it depends more on the screen than on where the image is located!

Photograph itself is, as usual, excellent - perspective, depth, composition ...

All the best in 2015!

Hello Rosemary,
I, too, see that the colours are accentuated but can't really tell the difference form the natural hues. As long as there are no people in a picture and when the composition features patterns, I think that playing with colours is creative and can give very interesting results, influencing the mood of both the image and the viewer. I prefer the intensity of the colours in this version. Your composition looks simple but includes a stunning amount of patterns and various different rhythms, I like that the colours contribute to this feast and don't hold back being just natural. I especially enjoy the foreground and how it can be bright and moody at the same time. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a beautiful year too!

Hello Rosemary,
very best wishes for the New Year, nice to see you back.
With such a wide range of saturated colours it`s easy to see why you may not have been best pleased with your original upload,I guess that this is one of those shots that the more that you work on it the less pleased you become and of course strange things can happen on upload to TE.
For me this version works pretty well with the layers of colours very appealing.
Best regards Les.

Hello Rosemary,
Brilliant colour and perfectly exposed. Nice shot, well composed with fine POV.
best wishes,

Hi Rosemary,
Good pov with this Fg, lovely garden, interesting result with these saturated colors, tfs.

Hello Rosemary,
Excellent framing and a well chosen format to showcase this part of the garden. These multi colored leaves are beautiful. Splendid nature photo, I like a lot!
Best wishes for 2015!

Hi Rosemary!
Mauritius must be really worth a visit!
It's really beautiful, the place and the photo. I like the composition and the different colours of the plants. You managed light very well also!

OMG! I do like this very picturesque photo, Rosemary!
Wonderful presentation of the garden, perfect DoF and superb colors! I am not a biologist but this photo is very eye-catching for everyone. TFS!

Best wishes,

Hello Rosemary,
What a colourful splendor in nature!
From fresh green over vivid red to purple.
The many leaves of the palmtrees make a superb backdrop.
I get an overall impression here of a very humid rain forest. I read that the picture is taken in the botanic gardens.
Best regards, Paul
