As maybe you have heard, two people were killed, dozens were injured and thousands of residents were rescued or fled from their homes on Thursday as the UK was battered by powerful winds and seaside communities were threatened by the worst storm surge for more than 60 years. On that day I was travelling up north from Birmingham. There was no wind but it was a bit chaos on the road and I spent almost the whole day in buses or bus stations. And next day I went to Middlesbrough to visit Mariusz :). Again, I had trouble with the bus, it didn't stop:(. I had to take a train.
But then it was a beautiful weekend. Not far from M'bro there are two interesting resorts that I already wanted to see during my previous trip to England. I knew Saltburn from many photos made by Kath, aka feather, who lives there. So, I was very excited to see the places with my own eyes and camera. And I had the opportunity to meet Kath and her husband Rob. Together with Mariusz we went with them for a very pleasant walk. Kath is no longer on TE but she is very active on Photofolia and Facebook, so it was a mini FB-PF-TE-meeting. In Saltburn, there were still seen some damages caused by the storms and the famous tram and pier were closed.
This is the Saltburn Cliff Lift, one of the world's oldest water-powered cliff lifts. Not specially wise of me to post this photo when there are better ones made by Mariusz or Kath, but I don't care, more important is for me this travelogue.

Witaj Malgo
I like a lot this one
Mild light, pastel colors, nice blend between warm red and yellow with the cold blue silver of the sea
The downward perspective is amazing and impressive
Bravo, have a nice evening

Howdy Malgo,

Eye catching scene for not just the "angry sea" background, but for me the funicular railway descending the hillside.
I was trained in downtown Los Angeles which has a diagonal passenger car on Bunker Hill, named Angel's Flight. It first started operating in 1901.

Best wishes,

Complimenti. Bravissima.
Ciao e buona serata

This is super Malgo. A place I would love to visit and your shot shows off the strange perspective perfectly. Excellent fine detail and I love the dull moody weather as it has added a real feel for the North Sea to your shot. Warm regards Rosemary

Wow! Just fantastic view... Outstanding combination of the Nature and technical construction! I agree with the friends, this is superb photo, Malgo! I take off my hat again! ;)
Best wishes,

Hi Malgo,
Whoa, my vertigo is kicking in as I look at this, I feel like I am about to tumble down that track :) A brilliant capture of something I had never even heard of, a water powered cliff lift? Wow, I learn something every day here. Beautiful vibrant colors under lovely lighting, and a brilliant sensation of both height, (as I tumble down) and depth leading out the pier. Wonderful!
Best wishes

Hello Malgorzata,
I like the soft light and the attractive colour palette. Of course you have an excellent pov and the scale is shown by the tiny figures on the shore.

...and on the same day i was in london, hoping not to be stuck in the UK for more!... beautiful shot this is dear, what a place to be...

Hi Malgorzata,
Nice POV on the lift, good perspective lines that add depth. The light is nice and the sharpness is very good.

Hello Margo
this shot strikes me for its POV and the soft but well contrasting colours. So well done. I would probably have tried to put pier and trains more in the middle although it may be dangerous to stand right between the rails. Nevetheless, the grey roofs on the right side are rather dull and distract a bit. Anyway, a great picture. Congratulations and kind regards.

Hello Malgorzata,
une très belle photo sur la mer, des teintes très agréables;

Hello Malgorzata,

What a good POV! The composition, symetric, is perfect.
Well done.

Hello Malgo,
The view down this cliff lift is really impressive!
I like the composition. The vertical lines of the tracks, the fences and the pier are perpendicular to the lines of the waves in the sea.
A good sense of scale is added by the lonely walker on the beach.
Best regards, Paul

Czesc Malgorzata,

Hi Malgorzata,
Nice pic !I like the geommetry of this shot : the railway, the lift, the building and the pier dividing the phtos in two equal parts. Nice light despite the nos so good weather.

Hello Malgo,
I like this composition very much. Perfectly framed so that the viewer is drawn ever inwards into the scene. Exposition is spot on with superb colours and clarity. Excellent photography.

Hello Malgo.
A fantastic and very original composition, at least for me that had not before seen a tram service that makes the cliffs to the beach, the prospect of it with the beach and sea in the background, looking angry is fantastic.
A colorful perfect very natural.
A bright image with optimum clarity.
Good job.
Enjoy a good weekend.
Best wishes.

Hi Malgo
this is just perfect. You have captured the very essence of this place in this beautifully executed shot. Superbly timed and presented just exquisitely. Top marks for this one Malgo, it is wonderful!

Have a great weekend - B.

Ciao Malgorzata

Hi Malgo
Yes, nice to be home after 6 days in Cuba. The country and its people are SO poor, it was sad and exciting at the same time.

I remember this scene from Mariusz, and its cool to see it from you aswell.
Personally i think it looks fantastic, love the long lines, the perspectives, and theres even a person i think walking along the beach.

So how did it go with Mariusz??? Its about time you two met! Haha

Hi Malgo,
What a superb capture with the funiculars connecting the beach with the upper side. I like the atmosphere and the colors. Well taken.
Have a good weekend.

Witaj Malgo !!
this is a perfect photo for TE as not to many people will ever see an installation like this one...... these almost vertical Trams are rather rare
Your photo has clarity and details, natural colours and sharpness .... and a curved horizon........ just perfect.
Happy travelling.
Cheers from Moss Vale

Hi Malgo,
I also remember this view from Kath's shots. Beautiful old-fashioned funicular and pier. Good contrasty view. I think effect of wind on the hay and waves is essential part of this landscape.
British storm got little attention here in Finland, maybe because it hit here too, making trouble on traffic and electric distribution.

Bonjour Malgorzata,

Excellente continuation

Hi Malgo,
Even though I have seen this view before here on TE, I am still impressed by this picture. Very good POV, the rails and the background pier seem to be one combined unit and the cars and the building add a uniform colour. A fine colour progress from the yellow grass towards to blue sea in the background.
Kind regards

Hello Margo,

I have seen a few pictures of these place here and on PF and I think this is one of the best for the fact that you took it from this side that also show the ocean. Love the POV with the rail tracks leading us down to the cars and then to the building and the pier leading all the way out to the angry sea. Yes, I heard it was windy. It is great that you have the chance to meet up yet with another friend.

Cheers, hope to see you on PF as well.

Ciao Malgorzata, great perspective on fantastic trasportation system, lovely composition with beautiful sea, splendid light and wonderful pastel colors, very well done, my friend, brava, ciao Silvio

A great photo subject. The choice of a high point of view is good to show funicular then the station and the pier going far in the sea.
I recognize this place many times posted by Kath.
For small detail, it seems the shot has a little tilt towards left.

Hi Malgo
Very good dominant point of view with an interesting perspective
I feel a vertigo in my head
Well done
Warm regards

Hello Malgo,
Great view of the beach on a cold December day. The POV looking down the steep slope makes me feel like I need to hold onto my chair! Everything is very vertical in this view, connecting each detail to the next one. I like following the rails downward towards the pier. Beautiful colors and a great sense of space, too. Very nice! :-)
