|ts source comes from the flow of marshes, over 900 meters above sea level at the foot of Convers. She throws herself, after a course of 45 km in the Zihl Canal and Lake Biel, at an altitude of 429 meters. Its catchment area is 210 square kilometers. It crosses the Vallon de Saint-Imier in its entire length and opens at Biel after passing spectacular Taubenloch.|
Its main tributaries are the Sweet, the Raissette the Terbez and Orvine.
