A boat trip to get a little bit a claustrophobic feeling. It seems a bit like a jungle but a heavily used route then.
Despite the fact that the boat probably rocked, the image has a good quality.
Best regards, Paul

An interesting note about your travels in the Mekong Delta and a very fine photograph to illustrate this particular short boat trip.
This looks like a particularly narrow waterway but I like the way that the banks are thick with green vegetation and I also like the fact that you have captured not only your own boat and companion but also a passing boat where the lady at the front is giving you very firm eye contact.
Lovely light and colours, perfect exposure and excellent detail and sharpness.

Interesantan tekst o mestu i trenutku, sa datim podacima ...
Dobar trenutak snimka i perspektiva, lepe boje.
Dobar rad, lepo pokazana vodena ulica i trenutak.
Prijatno vece i lepa noc, sve najbolje.
An interesting article about place and time, given the data ...
Good time recording and perspective, beautiful colors.
Good work, well demonstrated water street, and the moment.
Have a nice evening and night, all the best.

At first view I believe it was the very touristic floating market not far from Bangkok, which I visited by our own so, try to avoid, as you did here, the crowds
With time and patience you finally arrive at this place in close contact with local people, more, surrounded by a tropical vegetation in a narrow channel
Anyway you seems to attract interest with fixed regards, close or not
Well done, enjoy watching

Hi Gert, Detail information given by you for this journey in Saigon. It is always nice to get to close to local people to understand their cultures. Here, the image setting is almost like Venice in Italy, the differences are the palm tree jungle instead of nice European houses, the water in the steam is not as clear, different design of the boats....Just looking at your pictures, one could benefit from them a lot. Thank very much

Cracking shot, brings back great memories and nice way to experience Vietnamese way life a shot depicting the relaxed and peaceful feel of the delta and no rushing here. A really well composed shot, close to the action, this lady with the oar is of great interest to me. This summed up the essence of the country on one of many small canals which form a huge network of waterways surrounding this place. Well done, Tfs

hi Gert, It must be fun to go by these small boats on the canals of Mekong Delta. Wonderful view of the palm jungle and of course, beautiful Vietnamese conical hats. When I was a child, my dream was to have such a hat, so I bought one for my granddaughter.

Great composition with the triangle of people well placed within the image. It is amazing how flexible the boat people are to be able to maintain their squatted positions. Good colour range and fine details presented throughout the image.

I like the immediacy of the scene and the action involved. Nice tight framing as well. I'm reminded of "one I made earlier"!

Ciao e buona serata

The first thing that strikes me is the typically Asian sitting postures. I think it comes out of habit. We do it quiet easily, while most westerners, with longer and heavier limbs find it very difficult to fold the legs.
The blue boats, the muddy waters of the delta, and the green vegetation adds to the liveliness of the scene.
The narrow 'lanes' with the two boats almost parallel does make it a very compact and interesting photograph.
It doesn't look as if the waters are very deep, but its almost impossible to stand on the river-bed since the mud moves quickly.
Thanks for sharing, Gert

hi gert. considering the two canoes were a kind of mirroring each other, you should either be rowing at the back or sitting in the middle like a plastic bag :P
the shutter speed was amazing, slow enough to capture the motion blur on the oar-lady and fast enough to freeze the end of the same canoe. fantastic and original photo, giving us hints about what to do if we ever make it to vietnam.

there are 2 things that really caught my attention here.
1 - the long gloves the woman is wearing on the left, with those things on you'd think she's about to check out the back end of a Cow like a Vet does! Yikes!!
2 - the way they are sitting. and I bet they do that for long periods too right? that should be an olympic sport! seriously, try that for even 2 minutes and see how you feel! haha
a fine cultural photo, with an I'm-right-there-pov

the perspectives of the boats and the deep view ahead give great dynamism to this scene and make the viewer alert. The intensity is further enhanced by the eye contact with the two people on the boat going to the opposite direction and by the lady's oar. You put us on the boat and offered us a vivid experience of this short and interesting journey. The positions of the people make a triangle that accentuates the depth. The colours are bright and rich, the colour of the water isn't inviting but its texture evokes motion in an effective way. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,

Good morning, Gert,

Very interesting report from jungle.

An amazingly close encounter but your star figure seems very unimpressed by your interest! What a great impromptu shot! It is so full of interest and implied movement!
It is quite amazing to think of these narrow channels as important waterways ... still, far less hazardous than motorways!!!
Have a great day,

You're capturing well this place by a good angle and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the waterway in which is passing through narrow arm of the river by boat. When it is determined from the surrounding landscape of tall/green plants or murky water, here looks like the place subtropical area peculiar. This boat tour of the Mekong Delta might also change the boat with an engine from rowing in future.

These river palms are also common in coastal Thailand around the mouth of the Chao Phraya river and even have fireflies at night! The blue of the boats contrasts superbly against the yellow green fronds and the diagonal channel between the boats adds good dynamism. Excellent sharpness and framing. Tfs!

Excellent snapshot from rural daily life in Vietnam. This is a beautifully conceived photo which works well because of the adherence to the Rule of Odd Numbers because odd numbers are more attractive to the eye, odd numbers are eg. 3 elements in a photo are always preferable to 2. I'd like to see your photos fro backwaters.

This is really superb. I love the composition with the main subjects so close to the front and the back guy puting a stop to the eye. The texture of those greens in the back creates a really nice bg.
It would have been even better if the main woman was a bit sharper but hey it's only a photo!
Thanks for sharing

There's a sense in this picture of motion, more exemplified by the lady in the near left. These canals also remind me of those in Kerala, except of course the conical hats. The blue of the boats are quite striking especially contrasting with the muddy waters..Very nice!

Good job !

to me, this is a very impressive view - first of all, because of its low POV and an excellently created composition at a fleeting moment.
VERY interesting photo with a bt of a "jungle" mood :)

Thanks for the information, Gert. How amazing. I'm also fascinated by the way they sit on the boats.. especially the man at the end.. it would be a wonderful shot if he fell..:-D but it seemed that it was very unlikely, that's why it's fascinating... Thanks again for sharing.
