Whoever comes to Malta has a difficult decision to make: Should I go to the neighboring island of Gozo or not? There are so many things to see on Malta Island that going anywhere else seems like a waste. And yet my personal answer is: Yes, it is worth to go there. Gozo and Comino are two islands which are part of Malta.
There are various ways to visit Gozo. You can take an organized tour by boat/jeep (the most convenient option). You can take a bus to ferry terminal and after crossing take a taxi around Gozo (the cheapest option) or you can rent a car and drive around Gozo independently. We have picked the last option which we always prefer as it gives a lot of flexibility. Normally I would use the freedom to stay in some spots waiting for best light but with the small baby we used the freedom to stay in one place as long as the baby allowed.
Similarly to Malta Island, Gozo offers something for everyone’s taste. Azure Window (in this photo) is one of the most recognizable features of Gozo coast. But the whole rocky area of Dwejra is spectacular. I would love to spend there a whole day but I had a limited time around the noon when the light is especially harsh.
To sense the scale of the place you may try to spot some tiny people walking on top of the Azure window.

Good morning Mariusz,
Just yesterday I post a critique of the same location on Paul's picture, and the sight is most impressive from any perspective.
View through the arch, reveal part of the rocks down the coastline of this island. Also FG rocks looks as grined millions of years by the sea and wind.
Fine shot, nature's best appearence.
Enjoy a nice weekend,
Ike

Witaj Mariusz,
Ta scena przypomina mi trochę Majorkę i jej skaliste wybrzeża. Piękny widok wspaniale uchwycony!

Miłego dnia!
Gosia

Hello Mariusz,
An excellent sharp picture of the rocks. I really like the foreground with the small gap in the rocks leading us to the famous nature wonder.
I see that there are still people walking on top of it. Maybe I have been too cautious (or too obedient) during my visit in 2008 by obeying the prohibiting plates. After 5 years the rock appears still not to have collapsed :)
I walked for several hours in the area but afterwards I also had the feeling I should have spent even more time there. This is the kind of coastal landscape that I can enjoy tremendously.
Did you also visit the salt pans at the north coast of Gozo?
Best regards, Paul

hi Mariusz, a beautiful view here and you presented it superbly. The hollow rock is just like a gate in the ocean. You got a nice foreground which added depth to it. A superb one. Tfs.

Ciao Mariusz
Complimentio!
Ciao e buon fine settimana
Romano

Hi Mariusz
this is a place that stays with you, and I can remember the rocks and beauty of Gozo, even though it was over 30 years ago that I was there. Glorious textures and detail in this beautiful capture that does this coastline full justice. Excellent!

Enjoy your weekend - Brian.

Bonjour Mariusz,

Bon samedi

Serge

Hi Mariusz,
a good memory for me, well framed with this FG, nice light and calm sea, tfs.

Hello Mariusz.
After my vacation and some problems with my internet connection, I'm finally active again in these pages.
Fabulous landscape that shows the strength and capacity of the sea to erode the rocks and create as precious effects, superb arch we see the bottom of the image.
Sensational both the brightness and sharpness, as the beautiful color.
I wish you a happy weekend.
Best wishes.
Luis.

Hi Mariusz,
Thanks for mentioning the people here, I did not notice them without your note. On seeing them, WOW! That place is huge. The height of that rock bridge is incredibly impressive and you have a really excellent position to show it off like this. From the distant cliffs to the mid ground arch, and then the weather beaten rocks of the foreground, you really have given an excellent feel for this place.
Cheers
NOel

hello Mariusz
This is a spectacular view captured The layers of rocks, the crystal clear water with magnificent shades and the Azure window ...Beautiful.

Hi Mariusz
An excellent composition of a superb seascape emphasizing on the well textured rocks formation filling much of the foreground as strong focal and leads into the backdrop so nicely. Good pov inclusion of that rich colours of the blue water adds extra life and contrast to this shot. Nice capture, Congrats

Hi Mariusz,
A nice wide angle view, you master perfectly your ultra wide lens ! The composition is very well balanced and the wide angle creates perspective lines that add depth to the composition. Excellent sharpness. Nice natural colours.
Have a nice day,
Olivier

Fajny widok. Muszę sie tez kiedys wybrać na Maltę.

Pozdraiwam M.

Hello,
A spectacular image through the natural textures and shapes. I like the POV, good catch!

Daniel

Hello Mariusz,
in using the wide angle lens from your well chosen view point you have shown the texture of the FG rocks very well.
The spectacular Azure Window adds a great deal of interest in a well balanced composition.
Best wishes Les.

dear friend this is a very beautiful sea scape with great arc of the rocs
great scenary with fantastic scharpnees

Attractive view of Nature's sculptures with erosion, a foreground of Taffoni rocks, multi blue sea then the impressive Azure Window arch. Noting a few humans in the distance as small dots helps with understanding scale.

Good job,
Cheers,
Ray

Hello Mariusz

That's a very well composed image with awesome colors and details.Nice lightning usage and perfect POV.TFS

All the best
Chris

Hello Mariusz,

Beautiful and nice rough surrounding. As alway the
light management and the composition are excellent.
I like the excellent point of view: the little
opening of the sand on the forground is a nice
break and this one is also on a beautiful "line"
with the opening in the rocks on the background
and that creates a nice depth.

Friendely regards,
Robert

Hello Mariusz. The photo reminds me of my stay to Malta a few years ago. So a rock arch is of course a good thing for any photographer. Well seen and realized.

Dear Mariusz

This is a spectacular photo which proves immediately that the trip to Gozo is worth it. Stunning definition, colour and texture. You composed the shot superbly with the rock crevices guiding the eye towards the rock bridge in the background. Thanks for sharing, have a lovely day.

Warmest wishes
Lisa

Hola Mariusz,

So, this is Gozo.., I have a friend that lives there and send me his photos, not so well taken like this, great to put the rocks at the first plan, you look at them and then at the far end, the big arch with the tiny figures on it
Beautiful capture, not matter the hour
Congrats for the weather, blur sky, etc
Hope good weather will continue in the island where you work

Hello Mariusz
I loved the effect of the super wide lens on the FG rocks creating a type of converging perspective dragging our eyes to the Azure Window. Inttersetingly, this type of 'window' is not uncommon & can be found almost in all continents across various countries...the one at Bali is one I have seen myself...
Lovely shot!
Best Regards
Angshu

Witaj Mariusz,

Hi Mariusz
