The market hall, Nant

One view.
Other view.

In Nant, in the valley of the DOURBIE, on the Place du Claux, the market all of 16th 17th centuries, in five arched spans, covered with lauzes. Registered on historic monuments since 1944.

We see in background the Roc Nantais in 808 meters, in border of the CAUSSE NOIR.

_ The DOURBIE is a Cevennes river. It takes its source with the mount of Aulas, in Linguas, to 1300 m, the south of the mountain of Aigoual, in the department of Gard. It also runs in the department of Aveyron and is thrown, after 920 m of unevenness and 72 km of course through throats and valleys between the CAUSSE NOIR, black causse and the CAUSSE OF LARZAC, in Millau in the Tarn with the bridge of Cureplat to 320 m, him even tributary of the Garonne. Its irregular and seasonal course with known the minimal flow of 2,9 cubic meters a second, to reach up to 728 cubic meters a second maximum flow. Dourbie is famous near the trout fishermen. Dourbie river description.

_ The CAUSSE NOIR extends on 200 km², on the departments of Aveyron, Gard and Lozère, and is smallest of "GRANDS CAUSSES", large causses.
It is limited by the deep canyons of Jonte river to North, of Dourbie river in the south, the Tarn river in the west, and by the buttresses of the Cevennes in the East.

_ The CAUSSE du LARZAC is vastest and southernmost of "GRANDS CAUSSES", large causses. Its 1000 km ² of plateau rise from 600 to 900 meters. It is limited to the North-East by Dourbie river which separates it from "Causse Noir", in the North-West the Tarn river separates it from the plateau of Lévézou, in the west it stops with the depression of Roquefort. Its surface is strewn with famous sites with the military orders, Knights of the Order of the Temple and Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem.

_ The GRANDS CAUSSES, in the south of the Massif Central, are delimited in north by the plateau of "Aubrac", in the east by the Cévennes, the south by the plain of the "lodévois", in the west by the plateau of "Lévézou". These are plateaus limestones whose altitude varies from 700 to 1250 meters of altitude, and of surface going up to 1000 km². The "Grands Causses" are formed by important "Causses of Larzac" (1000 km²), of "Sauveterre" (550 km²), "Méjean" (330 km²), and "Noir" (200 km²), but also of the causses "Comtal", "Rouge" and of "Sévérac", and many small peripheral causses like causses of "Mende", "Blandas", "Changefèges", "Bégon", etc… No waterway circulates on the surface of the plates, because the rainwater infiltrates in the karstic, generating networks of many swallow-holes and caves, to re-appear in the valleys. Geology of causses and the cévennes.

NANT is a french municipality, located in the department of Aveyron of the Midi-Pyrénées area, populated of 919 Nantais in 2009, distributed on 109.4 km², That is to say 8.4 hab./km².

A fine capture of this lovely old market hall now seemingly used as a restaurant. I like the oblique point of view, which brings strength to the composition, and the light and shadow contrasts. Good technical quality.

Bonjour Noël,

Nice place as market, excellent under the umbrellas for the sun.
A nice place for drinking a good cup of coffee or a good glass red wine.
Nice collage and good composition
Sharpness and clarity are perfect.
Very well done, TFS.

Amicalement, et bonne journée,
John.

Bien cordialement

Hi Joel,

You're capturing well this architecture by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the medieval market hall with arched style and stone-made. There is nice for cafe in front of hall, too. And, Roc Nantais in behind draws out a good spectacle in this image.
Have a nice wednesday.

Kind regards,
mikio

Ciao Joel

Bien amicalement,
Josep
