Tango is a passion, Nîmes.

Dancers.
Tango orchestra "Ojos de Tango" in Montpellier. January 24th, 2010.

“El Tango es… el Tango”, the tango is… the tango.
“El Tango es una Historia”, the tango is a history.
Argentinian tango is also my passion.

UNESCO, United Nations Organization for Education, Science and the Culture, registered the tango on the list representative of the immaterial cultural heritage of humanity, UNESCO Press Release nº 2009- 105 01-10-2009 .
"It is practised in the traditional dance halls of Buenos Aires and Montevideo, spreading the spirit of its community across the globe even as it adapts to new environments and changing times."

The tango was defined like “a sad thought which is danced”. (Ernest Sabato, Argentinian writer of Italian and Albanian origin born in Rojas, in the province of Buenos Aires on June 24th, 1911.)
The tango is a social dance, of more or less clear origin, popular and coming from dregs, danced at the origin in Argentina and Uruguay which exists now in various forms, for ballrooms and codified, or adapted to various cultures. The tango is a culture.
The argentinian tango is regarded as the authentic tango.

If one is sensitive to the bewitchment of this music, the grace and the aestheticism of the dancers, the charm of elegance and the codes, with the seduction of the leg movements, the fascination of the technique of this dance, one cannot come out unscathed from such a relation with this world. The virus of the tango is contagious and tough.

The Argentinian tango is a single relation between the dancers couples and the music, a short and intense relation of dancers couple, the time of a tenda. Everyone perceives passion nature and the erotism of the argentinian tango, but one perceives less his violent side, relative.

The argentinian tango for ballroom is more sober and is reserved more than the tango of spectacle, but it can be quite as beautiful and captivating, on a beautiful music, single and always nostalgic.
The argentinian tango is a virus which does not release you any more since it penetrated you. Young people, and less young, impassion themselves for the argentinian tango and instigate it in particular in France where it develops and especially in the south.

A “milonga” is the place where the argentinian tango is danced. The milonga is also a dance, former to the argentinian tango.
The musical programming is done by alternating the “tendas”, of the series of 3 or 4 argentinian tangos or argentinian vals or milongas, which is the three rhythms of the argentinian tango in the broad sense.

NÎMES is a french commune, located in the department of the Gard of the Languedoc-Roussillon area, populated of 133,424 Nîmois in 1999, distributed out of 161 km², that is to say 827 hab./km².

Hi Joel,
a superb photo. You caught the essence of this famous dance with the composition, the photo gives back the rhythm of the dance, the excitement of the dance... The woman feet glittering in the light are beautiful. Great shot, Tfs! Have a nice day!
George

Hello Joël,
By concentrating on the legs you have captured the nuances of this famous dance in a nutshell. I like also the use of black and white which helps centre the concentration on the action. A fine range of tones with excellent sharpness. The interesting and informative note completes a splendid contribution.

lovely shot Joel, lovely and original,
well taken, good in black and white, good photo art job here, have a good day.

Hello

Roger

Hi Joel,
i don`t know much about tango, apart from the street photos I have seen from Buenos Aires. After reading your note, I know much more, Thanks ! Your picture is taken from a unusual angle, but it works for me. Black and white photo, combined with the clothes make it look old. And the legs ? Gorgeous :)
Have a nice evening.
Boa

Hi Joël,
I really like the note here and all the links that you have so kindly provided. This is also a very special picture, you have rightly concentrated on the legs of the dancers, as one would do, if watching this event in reality!
Kind regards
Gunnar

Ciao Joel,

Ciao, buona notte!
Paolo

Hi Joel
love the choice to go with the black and white, the lady's legs to the right really stand out with the flash you used.
you captured the textures in the floor, and the definition in the lady's legs.
great action photo.
Cheers
Craig

Bonjour Joel, Exellent creation in this picture. The dancers legs and feet tell the story. I really like this shot. Yes, if you want to see or hear the tango, go to Argentina. There was an American movie made in the 1930s, Flying Down to Rio. Ginger Roger and Fred Astaire. The tango in that cinema was Orchids in the Moonlight. Perhaps you have heard it? Wonderful music and also a great picture. Regards, Roger

Pascale
