Chapel and church, of the village of la Roque-sainte-Marguerite.

One sight.
Other sight.

Old Chapel of the castle, now parish church, of the 11th century with nave in cradle and apse in half dome.

It remains little thing of the old castle of the 13th century, which one sees the cylindrical tower which made keep.

The majority of the traditional buildings of causses were built according to a system of not cut stone vaults, like the majority of the walls, mainly for lack of wood.
These vaults support stage or roof, which is covered with roofing stones, of flagstones of limestone which is recovered on the 2/3 of their surface, which holds by their own weight on a slope of about 50 percent, for a weight with the m ² from 200 to 250 kilogrammes.
A typical chimney of architecture caussenarde emerges from the roof.

La Roque-Sainte-Marguerite is a french commune, located in the department of Aveyron of the Midi-Pyrenees area, populated of 172 Margueritois, divided on 50 km², that is to say 3 hab./km².

The commune include 3 villages: La Roque, in the valley of Dourbie river; Saint-Véran, cradle of the family of Montcalm, on the buttresses of Causse Noir and Pierrefiche on Causse of Larzac.

Dourbie is a Cevennes river. It takes its source with the mount of Aulas, in Linguas, to 1300 m, the south of the mountain of Aigoual, in the department of Gard.
It also runs in the department of Aveyron and is thrown, after 920 m of unevenness and 72 km of course through throats and valleys between Black Causse and Causse of Larzac, in Millau in the Tarn with the bridge of Cureplat to 320 m, him even tributary of the Garonne.
Its irregular and seasonal course with known the minimal flow of 2,9 cubic meters a second, to reach up to 728 cubic meters a second maximum flow.
Dourbie is famous near the trout fishermen.

Jose Bove, whose true name is Joseph Bové, born on June 11th, 1953 in Talence, celebrity of the altermondialism, is living in the commune.

Hello Joël,
The light and shadow contrasts bring an interesting mood to this fine composition. I like the point of view and the inclusion of the beautiful tiled roof in the foreground. Very good colours and sharpness. Many thanks for the informative note.

Bonjour Joel

cordialement.

salut Joel

This is very clever composition from high angle because from the ground level, it is not easy to get a clear view. I like your choice of composition for this POV to show the church and chapel and showing the roof top, especially the diagonal slope of the roof at the bottom right forming a nice feature.

Great work.

Joel,
Nice view of this stone church. The play of light and shadow is great here creating nice contrast. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail. Your POV is great showing us an overview of the church.

Asa

Bonsoir Joel,
this is one of your compositions where you are working with the light exceedingly to create a very tight impression of these amazing buildings. The result is very interesting and pleasant. The contrast between the fresh green of the trees and the colors of the tiles is exciting. And I enjoyed also reading your note. My compliments!
Warm regards
Harriet

Superbe!
Amitiés
Pascale

Hello Joël,
You have made the whole photo gallery of this very interesting village. This particular shot shows the village's old architecture from a short distance, all details of the stone roofs being visible very clearly. Along with so informative note the picture gives very good idea about this picturesque place. Perfectly good job!
Best regards,
Sergiy
