The Auckland War Memorial Museum Tāmaki Paenga Hira is one of New Zealand's most important museums and war memorials. The museum is also one of the most iconic Auckland buildings, constructed in the neo-classicist style, and sitting on a grassed plinth (the remains of a dormant volcano) in the Auckland Domain, a large public park close to the Auckland CBD. The museum houses a large collection of Māori and Pacific Island artefacts, including Hotunui (an entire large carved meeting house built in 1878 at Thames), and Te Toki a Tapiri(a Māori war canoe from 1830 carved by Te Waaka Perohuka). The museum stores a photographic collection of 1.2 million images, and stores and exhibits 1.5 million natural history specimens from the fields of botany, entomology, geology, land vertebrates and marine biology. The stated goal is to eventually possess specimens from all New Zealand species.

There is also an extensive permanent exhibition covering wars, including wars within New Zealand and New Zealand's participation in overseas conflicts. This exhibition is linked to the War Memorial (see below), and shows, for example, models of Maori pā (fortified settlements) and original Spitfire and Mitsubishi Zero aeroplanes. The Museum holds the largest collection of applied and decorative arts in New Zealand and selections are currently displayed in the Landmarks and Encounters Galleries. Parts of the museum, as well as the Cenotaph and its surrounding consecrated grounds (Court of Honour) in front of the Museum, also serve as a war memorial, mainly to those who lost their lives in the First and Second World Wars.

The museum is fascinating and I spent there inside some hours. Of course, I have a lot of pictures from the inside. Maybe I will show a few, I do not know. I do not want to bore you :)

Hello Malgo,
An interesting and well realised collage featuring this impressive museum building. My favourite, perhaps, is the one from inside looking down on the visitors. But, all have their merits. Good idea to present the building in this way.

hello Malgo
une composition intéressante, j'aime bien la vue en plongée dans le hall avec un bonne animation humaine.
Bon W-E

Hello Malgo

Auckland has around 50 dormant volcanoes and nobody knows which one will erupt first so lets hope they have some warning if the one under the museum erupts first. Rangitoto was erupting when Cook sailed past. More information here

Good collage of images depicting the exterior of the museum. Hope you went inside! Tfs!

Hi Malgo, surely interesting a visit of this war memorial museum,in effect the soldiers of this country has been emplyed in a lot of foreign wars,i remember the tombs in El Alamein memorial in Egypt. A beutiful collage showing the interior from above and 2 front view, the style reminds a lot the greek one. Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hello Malgo,
Five photos at the same time, all of them more or less good enough to be a main upload. Out of this main trio my favourite is the one at the top, looking down at the entrance hall of the museum. There is so much to watch among the pillars, tiled floor, statue and people.
Kind regards,

Bonjour, chère Malgo,
Une présentation très soignée. J'ai l'impression de voir un présentoir de carte-postales qui aligne les plus belles images du musée.
Une réussite originale à tous points de vue;

Hello Malgo,
Three excellent photos of this museum, the one in the middle has got the best light and the reflections in the wet pavement are very appealing too. The interior shot, taken from high up in the main hall, is excellent as well. Good clarity.

Hi, Malgo.
Two splendid views of the exterior of this museum with different lights and a magnificent perspective from top to bottom of its impressive classicist hall.
Very effective coloring, which highlights the details of the image.
Good management, both brightness and sharpness.
Very well done. I like it.
Enjoy the weekend.
My best wishes for you.

Well presented with these 3 photos, impressive POV for the first and the interior, good quality, light and sharpness, tfs.

The presence of the people is adding ligfe to the scene. The point of view is showing the details of the Auckland War Memorial. The light is giving good colours output. Have a nice day.

Dear Małgorzata!
Fajowska kompilacja, to zdjęcie na dole podoba mi się najbardziej, bardzo niepokojące jest to, coś co się marszczy i przelewa, jak sądzę. Ładna tonacja niebieskości.
Well done!

Hello Malgo,
A beautiful collage whereby my preference goes to the middle and the upper picture.
The light is very beautiful on the central photo while you've chosen a more spectacular point of view for the upper picture. Very nice with the statue on top, the huge columns and the visitors gathered around the compass rose.
In the WS we get to see the surrounding landscape.
A country with still a lot of space.
Best regards, Paul

Ciao Malgo

Hi Malgo
you're cheating again, 5 photos this time haha
After reading the note i'm wanting to see some photos, but I think most TE members THINK they will be boring if posted...which isn't the case. Go ahead and post, at least one of your favourites anyways. Maybe you already have, i'll check. Surprised to read the museum is so far out, it looks like its in farmland or something, not downtown. but thats ok. I like the large plaque on the bottom shot the most. fine trio of shots
