Many Eucalpyts shed their bark. Mostly it is in narrow sections of bark but for these ones on the Shipley Plateau near Blackheath in the Blue Mountains the bark comes off in huge sheets peeling down the tree trunk. When eucalpyts shed their bark, they also sheds any mosses, lichens, fungi and parasites that may live on the bark.
