The Living Desert sculptures are located 9 kilometres out of Broken Hill. Initiated by Gosford-based sculptor Lawrence Beck and created by 12 artists from five countries, these twelve sandstone pieces celebrate the strong connection between art and environment within the region. Perched on top of a hill and accompanied by spectacular panoramic views, the sculptures are an impressive part of Broken Hill’s skyline, particularly at sunset.

Ciao Lisa

Reminds me of one of the pinnacles in Cervantes Western Australia. Good sharpness and a pleasant diffused light. Smart choice of a vertical frame. Nice pastel colours. Tfs!

Ciao cara Lisa, gran bella scultura ripresa magnificamente, splendida nitidezza e ottimi dettagli, bravissima, un abbraccio Silvio

Hello Lisa,
This seems to be like a modern version of the Moai of Easter Island, probably more deliberately intended as art. It's fascinating figure, partly thanks to the very special environment. On this particular day the grey sky and the red earth went very well together.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Lisa,
Beautiful arid lanndscape that pleases my eye even on this cloudy light.
Mostly natural rock surfaces fit with sculptures on landscape. Sheer size impresses although I cannot claim that I would get some deeper thought out of that.
Kari

Hello, Lisa!

Very interesting piece of art in nature, with the stone matching the landscape perfectly, and you captured that with very good colors and depth! Even the cloudy sky makes a very nice contrast with the rest of the scene! Beautiful job!

Hello dear Lisa, good photography of this super interesting creation, very well captured in this interesting image integrated with the landscape, good sharpness, light, color and quality. Very good and interesting work perfectly done, my congratulations, my friend. Thank you for sharing this beautiful work.

Good day and happy week.
Best wishes from the south of Spain.
Angel.

Hello Lisa,
A beautiful photo of this piece of art in the middle of quite a barren landscape and it stands out so well against the cloudy sky. The composition and the off-centred placement are excellent too.
Lars

Hello Lisa,

The carving is somewhat evocative of the Tiki Gods, but the Aborigines didn't share those Tiki Gods with the Polynesians. This is a mostly monochromatic scene showing the parched desert and the sculpture is organic in its fit.

Warm regards from both of us, dear Lisa,

Bulent

Hi Lisa
Stunning scenery you have there and the viewpoint leads us to vastness of the plain. Love the way you have composed this against the sky, and I also think you had some wonderful detail on the sculpture even though the weather looks flat and unobliging. An excellent captured, Congrats.
Best regards

Hello Lisa ,
As Gert writes , it looks like a Moai . Fine capture in this overcast weather conditions . I wonder if it would have not been better with the statue on the left of the frame ?
Regards

Hi Lisa,
Interesting sculpture, well made and good presentation with your photo, tfs.

Ciao cara Lisa, You appear here on TE very rarely, so a great joy to see your picture now and then. Fascinating view of this piece of art in nature, in the unusual environment. From this side it looks like a head in helmet. Nice colours like in Red Center.
My feet are as always - itching. Tomorrow I go to China.

Have a great day

Malgo

Hello Lisa,
What interesting art. It reminds me of the statues on Easter Island. The landscape is very stark, but I like the earthy colors. There are so many fascinating things to see in the vast, empty spaces in Australia.

Ciao Lisuccia

Buona serata,Luciano

Dobro vece.
Interesantan pogled, dobar tekst ...
Dobar rad, lepo pokazano mesto i skulptura, dobar kontrast i perspektiva, lepe boje, lepo uhavcen trenutak sa oblacima. Lepa skulptura.
Prijatno vece i mirna noc, sve najbolje.
Paja.

Good evening.
An interesting view, good text ...
Good work, nice place and sculpture shown, good contrast and perspective, beautiful colors, beautiful moment captured with clouds. Beautiful sculpture.
Good evening and peaceful night, all the best.

Ciao Cara Lisa,

This is an interesting piece of art.
If we didn't know, it could be ancient, especially with the eye motif, or it could be modern.
The earthy colours are very fitting for something with such a connection to the ground.
It has a most spectacular viewpoint and though I said it was an eye motif, now it appears like an open mouth calling loudly.
That is the beauty of art, their characters can change with the view!

Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)
I much appreciate your critique on my photograph.

Hi Lisa,
Very interesting modern art but my first thought was, I hopethey didnt use one of the pinnacles for it...
Amazing setting for art exhibition,
Great reportage,
M

Hi Lisa
more of these please, also very cool.
its neat how its made just as part of the landscape, if you're standing far away you'd probably not even be aware its a sculpture, its like a hidden secret out in open space.
really like the colours and atmosphere here too.
cheers
craig
