Just came back home after several days in the Victorian Alpine region where Autumn colours in certain valleys and towns make areas look very European or North American.

This is an unusual photo of the mountain, taken in front of a small dam on a farming property where the farmer seems to have a liking for palm trees. From the dam to the mountain stretches the Kiawa Valley, vast and beautiful.

The sad undercurrent in this beautiful spot, like everywhere in Australia , is the bitter fact that the indigenous tribes, which treated the mountain with respect and at the foothills of which they gathered for ceremonies, trading and marriage settlements, were decimated.

Now as in many parts of the country, only place names remain, like Bogong, which is the name of the large and protein rich moths which provided plentiful feasts for the distant and near tribes that gathered there at certain time of the year.

Mount Bogong, /ˈboʊɡɒŋ/, located in the Alpine National Park and part of the Victorian Alps of the Great Dividing Range, is the highest mountain in Victoria, Australia, at 1,986 metres (6,516 ft) above sea level.

Always fun to read about autumn in May. Magnificent picture of this big mountain reflected in the small lake. Fabulous colours and light. Nice palms. Rather far from the North american view. stunning composition.

Superbe vue avec cette belle luminosité et ces teintes pour le ciel, les reflets ajoutent de l'esthétique à la présentation de ce magnifique paysage.

Hello Klaudio,

This is real a wonderful panorama view wit the mountains and reflections in water.
You play excellent with light and colours.
Composition and presentation are splendid to look at.
Very well done, TFS.

Best regards,

Ciao Klaudio
il cielo è molto bello, ma il riflesso lo è ancora di più.
Bella foto, ottima inquadratura e bei colori.

Hi Klaudio,

Fascinating mountain, well presented with the light reflected in the water in the dam. The clouds make this presentation more dramatic - altogether a splendid composition !

Bonjour Klaudio

A lot of Europeans are surprised to learn Australia has any snow and ski-fields. Their perceptions are that the whole country is like Uluru. They are also surprised to learn that Melbourne can be cold, wet & green just like Europe. Good reflections and sunset colours here. Tfs!
