Sunrise at White Sands National Monument Park. America is such a wonderful place, there are almost 400 national Parks across America. White Sands National Monument Park is located in New Mexico right next to a missile test site. It is a beautiful white desert not made of sand but rather Gypsum. It is the largest gypsum deposit in the world.

I arrived at 7:00 AM to capture the warm morning light and soft shadows on the sand dunes. The sun was rising in front of me so I used a #25 red filter to make the sky a little darker, otherwise everything would be white. I also put the camera on a low angle to get the texture of the waves on the ground.

I developed the film in Ilford ID-11 3:1 to get many slight tones from all the white.

This is a repost from yesterday. I changed the photo.. Film scanners have trouble Scanning black & white films that contain many highlights. I will print this in the wet dark room and probably re re post it in the future.

Great work. The negative scanning is problematic, but you shouldn't have too much troubles with a 645 neg.
Quality seems fine to me (according to TE image standards: 800 px máximun and 200K.

Keep sharing!

Why this great shot hasn´t more points? misteries of trekearth. But the soft tones of the sand, the minimal composition and the shadows and lights game, merits much more. Here you have my two.
Congratulations:
Javier
