I made this capture today during a 5 hours lasting walk through the old city of Istanbul.
This shoe-polisher was sleeping on his typical "shoe polisher box" full with all stuff related to the shoes of man.

Hello Mesut,
Poor man. He probably doesn't get many customers these days. He has lots of things to carry but gets very little for his efforts. No wonder he was tired. But you spotted him well and made a good document of a part of life still common among the less fortunate people.
Kind regards,

Selamlar Mesut Bey,
Ayakkabı boyacısının tam iši gešmişken yakalamışsınız. O kadar sentetik malzemeden yapılmış ayakkabılar, snikerler, vs ile hala ayakkabı boyatan var mı? 👍 👍

Hello Mesut,

I have heard from friends in Turkey that since the economy nosedived, people are finding it harder and harder to make ends meet. I wonder what he is holding in his hand? At first I thought it was a cigarette but no smoke or glow. Anyway a good daily life scene from the streets of Istanbul. Tfs!

Hello dear Mesut,

When I was young, it was the chore of every schoolboy and man to polish his shoes every day but nowadays few people seem to bother, or else they wear more casual shoes which don't require polishing. So I wonder if this man is as busy as he was a few years ago?

So is he tired through hard work or just bored because he has no customers? Poor fellow, I can't believe that he makes much money despite the fact that here we see him surrounded by piles of laces, various polishes, bottles of stuff and numerous cloths and brushes.

An excellent candid street photograph, very well seen and taken with good light and colours and excellent details.

Kind Regards,

P.S. A five hour walk through a city is a long walk! And did this man shine your shoes for you?

Hi Mesut

No customer in view, and he feels tired, so a good nap will do for the next quarter of hour

Merhaba, Mesut!
Another interesting daily life photo from Istanbul.
I don't remember a lot of countries where we can meet this old and so nice street tradition. I think it is not so succesful buisiness, may be a habit only.
Best wishes!

Hello Mesut, I am sure you have a very nice stroll through the old city. The guy looks more like a beggar, in the old chair, still with the cigarette in hand, surrounded by incredible old stuff. Well observed, excellent street scene. It is just life.

Kind regrad s Malgo
