Tyska Kyrkan

The next picture in my Göteborg-Travelogue is something different again. This picture shows you Tyska Kyrkan (German Church) or actually its reflections in Stora Hamnkanalen. This canal, as well as this church could also be seen in this picture.

Tyska Kyrkan was completed in 1748 after 14 years work. Before that year there already had been a wooden church and a stone church on the same place. The tower of this church was completed in 1783.

Hi Lars,

Groeten,
John.

Hello, Lars. Nice one. You are so used to make photos with reflections that this time you have taken just the reflection. Probably this image is more interesting that the original one. It is very clear and well satured. Just as a suggestion, I would crop out a little of the top to eliminate the white bricks which do no add very much.

Hi Lars,
A superb reflection in the canal. The lighting and exposure seem ideal and the golden clock really enhances and accentuates the effect. The lamp post provides good balance. Very well seen and captured. A keeper.

Hi Lars,
Unusual but well working way to present a church.Good compo with tight framing and nice colors.
Very well spotted and captured.

Hi Lars, A nice effect of the view on the water. I like the different color levels and the waves showing in this picture. Good contrast and nice PoV and DoF.

Hi Lars, nice pic you gave to us, i like the mirror, regards manuel

Hi Lars. What a great idea to focus the shot basically on the water alone. When the reflection is that good why not? I think the sky is going to be even stronger in the reflection. Good work Lars!

Hi Lars,
It takes a while to orientate our eyes to look at this inverted image. Its a good exercise. I love the slight distortion due to the moving water as it give the building a new form and let us see it differently. The fluid shape also makes it more dynamic. Creatively seen and captured!! Regards.

Hi Lars
That's a perfect reflection captured. And putting some PS work onto the dirt on the water will perfect the whole image, pal.
Great job, Lars.

I like the idea of this - using only the reflection. It's like an impressionist painting, where you can recognize the subject, but it's altered in an artistic way. Great work!

Bert

Good reflective shot of this church Lars. Crisp, fine details, fun effect. It could even be interesting to see it turnes around. Well done.

nice shot lars the reflection is great, i was going to suggest rotating the image so it was the right way up but i see that was done in the workshop, it looks good both ways! colours are good too! your 200th post next! exciting times! well done for getting so far!

A nice reverse world, poetic and lighted.
Could be a composition from Australia (antipodes) as the archetecture is completed and well framed.
I like it

Hej Lars, beautiful reflection on the water, it looks like a slightly distorted painting, great idea. Well composed with beautiful saturated colours and contrast. Well seen and done!

Mvh, Christian

Lars, this is a wonderfully coloured and contrasted shot, I suspect the reflection produces a better shot than shooting the church directly. The ripple in the puddle produces an interesting artistic effect. I just wonder what the response would have been to this image if you had flipped it the other way up...

Bonjour Lars
Un reflet dans l'eau qui a été parfaitement exploité afin de réaliser cette bonne composition.
Bonne idée.

Hello Lars
A reflection in the water which was perfectly exploited in order to carry out this good composition. Good idea.
Hilsner.

Nice to see once only a reflection, very natural colored and clear one, to discover this church in town.
Well seen Lars.

The blur in the water creates a great effect ! You did it right, with the frame too.
Well done.

Hello Lars. nice capture of this historic tower in this cold looking pond. The blue you have captured is really refreshing. What I would have liked to see in the water is a lot of dry leaves , and basically a fall mood. but oh well. nice shot anyways. regards. Behrang

Hej Lars,

Buongiorno Lars,
day after day we have an even better know of Göteborg, thanks to your nices images and interesting notes!
Good idea to exclude the direct view for concentrate the attention over the reflex, the church is well visible and in the same time the water give an apparence of 'older'.
Well seen and composed!
ciao, Giorgio

Hi Lars
Beautifull inverse reflect.

Hola Lars.
Great reflection on the water, nice colours and great composition.
Well done.

I like this one Lars. The wavy lines on the reflection make for an interesting image. well spotted
Kath

Hi Lars - great reflection, the distortion of the water creates an interesting and funky effect.

Hej Lars,
I was surprised that I hadn't make a critic on this one, because I remember to visited some time ago...
I love this kind of shots of reflections on the water. The image in here is strong with marvellous colours and a pleasant distortion of the image. I like the suggestion of 'utamaputranto', of rotating this image 180º, making it in a straight position. It's increadible how our perception of the image is completely diferent. The details that we apreciate are diferent in the two images. Good work on this one!
Hilsner,
Ricardo

A completly Platonician picture (re the myth of the cave, in the Republic), since we are only seing the reflexion of the real object.

A very original picture.

All the best,

Emmanuel

Hello Lars,
This is an interesting reflection image!
The distortion is sufficient to tell it is a reflection, but still giving attractive details in the church tower...
Good rich colours, well framed!
Greetings,
Pablo -

A reflective presentation, Lars, in more ways than one! This really grabs one's eye in looking at your gallery. I like the mirroring in the water, the color and the contrast, the upside down point of view. A technique like this could doubtless be overused, but it works well in this case, I think: It really draws attention to the subject of the image -- and that's good composition and presentation on your part.
