Hi TE friends

This is my first picture of the Lisbon TE meeting (27th of February). It was different but very interesting

We received in Portugal a lovely couple: Miguel (nszeretlek) and his wife Annette

In this meeting also participated Goncalo (Bluejeans), Filipe (Sacavem), Paulo (Juntas) and Cidalia Bolacha.

The weather was terrible as you can see in the picture: strong wind and rain.

In background, the Tagus River with waves

In the WS, You can see more 2 pictures os this meeeting

The quality of pictures is bad. I used my new Canera Nikon D90 but I could not use the raw format. I used the low quality JPEG format. I need to learn a lot about new toy

The Tagus is the longest river on the Iberian Peninsula. It measures 1,038 kilometers in length, 716 km of which are in Spain, 47 km as border between Portugal and Spain and the remaining 275 km in Portugal, where it empties into the Atlantic at Lisbon. It drains an area of 80,100 km² (the second largest in the Iberian peninsula after the Douro). The Tagus is highly utilized for most of its course. Several dams and diversions supply drinking water to most of central Spain, including Madrid, and Portugal, while dozens of hydroelectric stations create power. Between dams it follows a very constricted course, but after Almourol it enters a vast alluvial valley prone to flooding. Its mouth is a large estuary forming the best harbor in Europe, on which the port city of Lisbon is situated.
The source of the Tagus is the Fuente de García, in the Albarracín mountains. All its major tributaries enter the Tagus from the right (north) bank. The main cities it passes through are Aranjuez, Toledo, Talavera de la Reina and Alcántara in Spain, and Abrantes, Santarém, Almada and Lisbon in Portugal.

Hi Aires,
At this time I'm in Porto and it's terrible too!
It's so windy that the birds stay there and don't fly:-))
Best regards

Hi Aires,
Rather bad wether for the meeting, but in spite of this nice photo, showing windy bday. The palm trees look like big pineapples. I hope that during next meeting in Lisbon the weather will be better :). I am looking forward to it!

Warm regards

Well done!

Ciao Aires,

hi Aires
what I like about this shot is the sense of movement you've got, the strong winds blowing on the palms and the people together with the strong waves in the bg make a very powerfull image

Wowww!! what a dynamic, animated, beautiful and interesting shot, Aires!
I like the contrast between the white birds and the green grass and then the orange jacket with the dramatic scenery of the wind storm. TFS
Nice Thursday

Hi Aires

Yes, I can feel the upcoming storm, the wind is getting fiercer and fiercer. Find capture and composition, giving the right feeling. I guess in the BG it already is raining, isn't it? Fine pastel color hues and adequate sharpness well done. Thanks for your critique of my festival shot from Alor Star.

Best regards

Hello Aires,

The mood is perfectly conveyed..!
I assume the bad weather and strong wind can offer some special photo opportunities hehehe...
But I notice that even the gulls stay on the ground, they usually find the highest place around when they take a rest..!

Pablo -

Hi my friend !

Yes awful weather but the chance to enjoy a special mood of the Tagus river and this picture reflects perfectly how the day was like ...I like the selective saturation on the boat and the people´s clothes that helps a lot to balance the colours , mainly . The composition is orthodoxically perfect !

Un abrazo a los 2

Hello Aires,

awful weather, but the image is gorgeous. I can almost feel the storm here in front of the screen. The gulls on the green play a role in the shot too brilliantly repeating the grey of the sky and water. This picture is a lesson on photography.

Big bravo.
Best wishes

Olá Aires,
Que imagem interessantíssima! Que vendaval! As águas estavam turbulentas!
Thanks for sharing,

A simple but very nice composition which shows very well the effect of the wind. I had seen it was windy in the photo of Paulo too. Was it the same depression which hit France?
I like all those seagulls in fg and the sight of that tug-boat between the two palm trees in the midst of the storm!
I hope the meeting was a fun even with that bad weather.

Hello Aires,

This is a fabulous photograph. I like the windswept palm trees that resemble giant pineapples, bracketing all the individuals and the tub boat in the distance. The birds serve as an added chorus.

Warm regards,

Hi Aires
This looks very windy! Interesting scene with many details with lawn and birds a good FG, funny shaped palm trees add also to the compo

Hi Aires,
Wow, it does not look like Portugal at all.
Incredible wind very well seen in this shot.
Even the birds decided to stay on the ground.
The boat caught between the palm trees adds one more layer.
People as wellseem to be affected by the strong wind.
It seems like a typical summer Irish day to me :)
Have a good weekend

Hi Aires,
Find capture and composition, giving the right feeling. This picture is a lesson on photography.

Muitos elementos interessantes nesta imagem

Olà Aires,

Wind and rain but a very good shot with a good framing and a composition very rich in various elements and well ballanced in differents plans well delimited. An image full of athmospher.

Ola Aires
Nice meeting. You must wear iron in the pockets to not fly with the wind ;). Lovely capture of a stormy weather.

Ola Aires,
completely different picture.
play of forces of nature - the great people in the frame of slanting palms .
Only the gulls remain calm.
Best regards Tomasz
