More pictures and more information about the former shipyard NDSM in Amsterdam – North.
The gigantic NDSM Shipbuilding Yard will be majestically on the IJ in 2020 for a hundred years. The LOODS (hangar) is part of the former shipbuilding yard and is unquestionably a 'landmark' within this monumental industrial complex.
The Art City, a cultural breeding ground with about 80 studios, covers roughly a third of the immense surface area. More than 250 artists and artisans have a studio here.
The other parts in the warehouse are rented for film recordings, photo shoots, dance, music and theatre performances, exhibitions, auctions, corporate and dance parties, markets, conferences and so on. The raw, industrial look of the LOODS (hangar) makes it a popular location for holding a video or photo shoot

■ The main picture shows a creation of Eefinform (Eva van der Meer)
Eva van der Meer works in the field of visual art and design. Her disciplines are theater design and set design, music, performance, artistic furniture and interiors, installations and wall paintings. She makes free work and work on assignment. Her approach is simplicity, humor and clarity. She also gives art lessons to children in primary schools. At the NDSM shipyard she wants to work together more in a team, especially in the theatrical field.

■ The first workshop shows a large illustration of Sue Doeksen
Sue Doeksen (1982) is an Amstardam based illustrator who creates worlds that are overpopulated with bright colours, friendly shapes, layered or light concepts and hidden jokes. Mediums ranging from physical, digital, pencil-drawn, paper-cut, and animated. Juggling commercial and personal project balls she is often overwhelmed because there are so many visual adventures to be made at the same time and therefore wishes there were just many more hours in a day.

■ The second workshops shows an installation with Electromagnet. I suppose the electromagnets were used in the former shipyard and here collected in this strange ceiling-installation.

I add the dark frame to the picture to give the posts a screen format of 1920x1080 pixels
The idea is that, if you use the links in the text, you have a full screen image of the picture with the photo in the centre of a dark screen.
This works with the browsers and screens I use, but I’m not sure that everybody will have the same result.

Bonjour Rob,

C'est tout le contraire du minimalisme que cette toute petite composition. Beaucoup de choses à voir et de très jolies couleurs bien saturées.

Amicalement

Serge

Hello Rob,
I think Eva van der Meer had fun making this...installation... and it seems visitors will also have fun. It's hard to tell where the art stops and messages to the visitors start, or is everything part of the exhibition? It's nice to get confused sometimes. The Sue Doeksen paintings are also very entertaining, looking like something Mondrian or someone like him cold have produced if he had decided to make cartoons for kids. The electromagnets also make a fascinating installation. The photos indicate that you also enjoyed your visit to the NDSM Art City.
Have a nice weekend,
Gert

Hello Rob,
The artist certainly knows how to make her work stand out. There is much to see in this work, but it all seems to come together to make a harmonious whole. Excellent capture on your part with well rendered saturated colours and very good clarity. Not really being a fan of this sort of stuff, I have to say I have a sneaking liking for this one.

Hallo Rob,
Lars

Hello Rob, of the three shots, the one I prefer the most is NOORD, attractive and colourful.
Interesting notes to support your presentation.
A shipbuilding yard sounds the perfect place for the project that you have described.
Regards Jean.

Again Rob, managed to intrigue with the WS's attached to the main photo: The indoor's picture of the Electromagnets used on the ducks and the display along its walls, made sense to the main picture.
Lots of warm colors and fine lines on the paintings, beautifully shown.
Good afternoon,
Ike

Hi Rob,

The museum has a suprising collection. The point of view is showing the details of the abstract artwork. The sharpness is very good. Have a nice day.

Pierre

Hello Rob,

This is a huge area for artists to work!
I would think that some areas, like the electro magnet display is inspired by the location.
Though it was well photographed, I'm afraid it's not my cup of tea but I really liked the first two.
I particularly liked the first w/s. I can imagine fabric producers moving in on these designs to produce fabrics for children's rooms. I would have loved to decorate my children's rooms with them. Am I being trite suggesting this art could furnish a child's room!
I did like the idea of the artist going in to schools to work with the children. How inspirational!

Have a good w/e,
Bev :-)

Bonjour, cher Rob,

Mooi foto werk, bedankt.

Prettig weekend, 16°C en gesloten hemel.
John.

Hello Lars,
Very nice capture and TE entry enriched with many interesting, educative and good notes.

Hello Rob,

It reminds me of pop art in the style of Andy Warhol. The workshops add nice repetitive elements. Good sharpness and framing with excellent colour and saturation. Tfs!

Ciao Rob, beautiful artwork, wonderful colors, fine details and splendid sharpness, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Nice series of three photos, I guess the installation with electromagnets was inspired by the industry subject area, all three photos are very well presented

Hello Rob,
Interesting pictures from this artists and photographers heaven. But we do not see any people, I mean visitors. Is it popular place? Splendid colours in the main upload, Noord looks a bit like a train, good for the children books, and the hanging magnets also look like a piece of art in this display.

Kind regards Malgo
