Mural Factory

As promised, today some examples of murals such as these last year in the NDSM hangar were to be admired.
Three works in very different styles from nowadays international well-known artists in the worldwide wall-painting community.

■ Main picture: ◙ Alexander Tadlock
■ Workshop 1: ◙ Fin DAC
■ Workshop 2: ◙ Millo

Alexander Tadlock born in California and raised in the different regions of Mexico, has been greatly influenced by the exposure to diverse cultures that have enriched him with a world vision for visual arts. The extensive art culture the urban artist possesses has resulted from his eagerness to stimulate positive changes in social behaviour through his artwork.
With a degree in Visual Information Design from the University of the Americas, Puebla (UDLAP), the emerging artist discovered an innate passion for visual arts especially in painting. This urge led him to understand and master the techniques in watercolour, acrylics, graphite, and inks eventually taking him into the world of street art.
Inspired by vivid forms of nature and the human figure, Tadlock is constantly learning new techniques from experiences that allow him to represent through visual arts, the gaze that reflects the inner soul."

Fin DAC, originally Finbarr Notte was born in Cork but lives and works in London. He started making street art in 2008. DAC is an acronym for Dragon Armoury Creative. His combination of traditional portrait techniques and stencils crosses the boundaries of conventional street art. He uses stencils to make the outlines like a painter would use the photograph as an inspiration for canvas work. After he puts on the templates, he fills in the outlines by hand, using aerosol. This method gives his murals a blissful appearance and more dramatic shading. His sense of fashion is admirable. The women are dressed in stylish clothes, with statement pieces that signify their heritage and bring out their bold and fierce characters. Fin DAC makes large murals of beautiful women, taking a new turn on 19-century art movement The Aesthetics. He believes, so did the Aesthetics, that art should not be political or social, it should only serve a purpose of bare embellishment of mundane lives. The purpose of art is to bring the beauty to the world. Being that the leading idea in street art is the social and political engagement, Fin DAC chose his theme to be a bit different. His murals depict beautiful women, with eye masks, who wear gorgeous clothes and elegant makeup. He named his style Urban Aesthetics, in which he combines the modern urban stencil art and traditional art of portrait.

“Italian artist Francesco Camillo Giorgino, known as Millo, paints large-scale murals that feature friendly inhabitants exploring their urban setting. He uses simple black and white lines with dashes of color when necessary, and often incorporates elements of architecture into his multi-story paintings.” C. Jobson, Colossal.
He took part to several street art festival and NGO art event all around world. He has been painting in USA, Russia, China, Australia, Thailand, Argentina, Chile, Morocco, Spain, Portugal, Uk, Netherland, Poland, Lithuania, Belarus, Ucraine and of course Italy.
His works have been exhibited in Los Angeles, Chicago, Berlin, London, Amsterdam, Milan, Rome, Florence and more.

I add the dark frame to the picture to give the posts a screen format of 1920x1080 pixels
The idea is that, if you use the links in the text, you have a full screen image of the picture with the photo in the centre of a dark screen.
This works with the browsers and screens I use, but I’m not sure that everybody will have the same result.

Hello Rob,

You are making us greedy!
WE would be disappointed if we didn't get three photographs from you each time!

Three very different styles but all good viewing experiences.
The main one is like a classical portrait coming to life and taking up spray painting!
I like the MIllo too,and it reminds me why it is sometimes effective to desaturate most of the photograph except for specific areas or figures.

Thanks for these, I really enjoyed them,
Bev :-)!

Hello Rob

A clever idea to use a man in the style of a Rembrandt painting like this to hold a modern spray-paint can:

I like the 'madame butterfly' image too. Tfs!

Bonjour Rob,

J'aime beaucoup la construction de cette image.Elle nous donne l'impression que nous sommes le mur sur lequel la peinture en canette sera étalée par un maître de surcroit.

Hello, Rob!

This series you've been posting is very interesting, with colorful paintings, and each type a completely different style! The details here are impressive, the face of the man was perfectly painted! Beautiful job!

Hallo Rob,
Wie weet, als Rembrandt nu geleefd had, had hij daar misschien ook wel met zijn spuitbussen gestaan. Deze graffitikunstenaar kan er in ieder geval ook wel wat van. Mooie felle roze, rode en oranje kleuren.

Hello dear Rob and have a nice time
and a happy new day

Hello Rob, What a haven for artists and photographers! Three beautiful murals from this factory, I would have a big problem what to choose as the main post, I like all of them equally. Funny to see Rembrandt as the spray painter. Nice also the mural with the girls in red against the black and white town. All are creative works.

Kind regards s Malgo

Dag Rob,

Hello Rob,
All three posts are wonderful murals, my pick would be WS #1, but I can only appreciate your chosen photo for a main post.
Have a nice weekend,

Hello Rob,
This time you show us three masterpieces of graffiti painting. I would love to see many more walls look like that in Stockholm, or anywhere I travel. I like them all, but the humour and significance of the main picture is unbeatable. The 21st century joins the 17th in a very smart way.
Best wishes,

Ciao Rob, fantastic murale, wonderful colors, fine details and splendid sharpness, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

These here are not ordinary murals, they are the true high class art, three excellent photos
regards Ryszard

Hallo Rob,
Net zoals de eerste kunstenaar ben je ook door diverse culturen beïnvloed.
De drie getoonde werken nemen ons mee naar heel verschillende maatschappijen op aarde.
Ditmaal zonder toeschouwers gebracht.
Doch zeer kwaliteitsvol gepresenteerd.
Vele groeten, Paul

Hi Rob,
interesting idea showing the old master with the new means of expression. There is some sort of contrast between these two fragments of the picture. But I suppose the message is that the graffiti creators are new generation of artists as well contrary to what police may say.
Thanks for sharing!

Hi Rob,
A good choice of 3 beautiful murals !
I like the Rembrandt painting with the can of graffiti paint :-)
The 2 little red girls dancing on the white skyscrapers’roofs is an original idea indeed !
And the geisha crying despite being surrounded by butterflies…
A very rich post.
TFS and have a great day !
