Graffiti School - Amsterdam

Regularly photos appear on TrekEarth of murals and graffiti. Gert recently wrote about the free-for-all legal "graffiti wall" in Stockholm.
Amsterdam also has an excellent opportunity for upcoming Graffiti artists and Wall Painters to practice and inspire each other.
Almost a year ago I already presented how the former NDSM site (NDSM = Nederlandsche Dok en Scheepsbouw Maatschappij = Dutch Dock and Shipbuilding Company) in Amsterdam North has become an artistic haven for contemporary creativity including extensive possibilities for graffiti.
A large number of old sea containers and a number of suitable walls are available for experiments. The large sheds of the former shipbuilder have also been transformed into creative spaces suitable for all kinds of art forms.
Today I start a short series that gives an impression of this area one year ago. Soon I hope to visit the side again to take pictures of the development since then.
First three examples of Graffiti.

I add the dark frame to the picture to give the posts a screen format of 1920x1080 pixels
The idea is that, if you use the links in the text, you have a full screen image of the picture with the photo in the centre of a dark screen.
This works with the browsers and screens I use, but I’m not sure that everybody will have the same result.

Critiques [Translate]

I was patiently waiting for the two WS's pictures to be posted, Rob, you know I like graffiti walls on photos, regarded by me as street art with a "say".
Cheerful collection, and I guess you have more of that stuff to come.
Colors are amazingly vivid, well done.
I will choose to add these to my "Grafitti" theme.
Good afternoon,
Ike

Hello Rob,
It beats looking at a blank container wall, but I remain to be convinced this sort of stuff can be classed as 'art'. Mais, chacun a son gout as they say in France. Well framed image with excellent colours and sharpness.

Hello Rob,
The paintings you show here are marginally better made than those on the Hornstull graffiti wall, but you present them very nicely. Together they form an attractive set of bright pictures. I think that some of these kids will develop their skill if they keep working in places like this where they cause no harm. "MOKUM" seems to be someone's alias, but it sounds like the acronym of a new museum.
Best wishes,
Gert

Hi Rob,

The artist has a lot of imagination regarding his work. The point of view is showing the details of the graffiti. The light is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.

Pierre

Ciao Rob,original murale, fantasticl colors, fine details and splendid sharpness, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Bonjour Rob,

Hello Rob,
the practice of all those aspiring artists dealing with graffiti and even in a container space is an extraordinary idea that the city authorities had.
I like the presentation with all these beautiful and contrasted colours.

Regards,Danos

Hi Rob
what I like about these are how colourful and bright they are, its like they're being shined upon by a light source.
they basically yell at me through the monitor :)
Fun subjects, vivid and striking. Looking forward to the next groupings. cheers
Craig

Hello Rob,

'Vaux is not a commonly used word in English but apparently the closest match is 'community'. I would much rather have a public space for budding artists than if they went around defacing peoples homes and private property. Good framing, color and sharpness. Tfs!

Hello Rob,

The idea of having walls specifically for street artists is one of the best decisions made in urban areas. I hate the see beautiful building daubed with graffiti but quite enjoy perusing it when used to enliven grey, unappealing surfaces.
These three photographs, that you have shown us, gives an insight into the colours and the talent of these budding artists or cartoonists.

Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Dag Rob,

Goed foto werk Rob, bedankt.

Prettig Pinster weekend, het weer wordt beter nu met wat zon er bij.
John.

Hello Rob,
It's nice to see some street art from Amsterdam. I wonder if that pink face is a self-portrait of the artist. :-) The red container makes an excellent background, since it adds even more color to the scene.

Hello Rob, The wall for the future graffiti artists is a splendid idea. I prefer to see such pictures painted on the special wall than on the real buildings. Then it would be vandalism for me. Nice colours.
Have a nice weekend
Kind regards Malgo
