We're still in Enkhuizen, this is a photo of the Zuiderzeemuseum, an open-air museum about the culture and maritime history of the old Zuiderzee region.

The body of water now called Lake IJsselmeer used to be shallow bay of the North Sea called Zuiderzee. With the construction of the Afsluitdijk in 1932, the Zuiderzee was dammed off and turned into the fresh water IJsselmeer. In 1983 the Zuiderzeemuseum was opened, whose purpose is to show the architecture and the atmosphere of villages around the former Zuiderzee.

What you can see here is the museum's Harbour Quarter, which largely originates from the island and village of Marken, although there are also some houses from neighbouring villages such as Volendam and Monnickendam.

very interesting these traditional rural black houses. I liked these many details, like bridges, lawns, canals, balconies. very nice.

Hello Lars,

Reading your notes was like visiting the past when I learned all these names and the closing of the Zuiderzee in my geography lessons. In makes so much more sense pictorially and, of course, now I am more interested!
The clarity of your photograph is really wonderful, with excellent depths of colour. I would imagine that this is a better shot than any they might have in advertising brochures!
Do you teach photography at school?

Have a great day,
Bev :-)

Hello Lars,

This open air museum is wonderful and never an idea about it, excellent presentation and good description, very sharp and well saturated color.

my warm regards,

Bonjour Lars,

Quel beau village de pêcheur. Le point de vue est remarquable et l'ensemble profite d'une très belle luminosité qui fait bien ressortir les couleurs.

Dag Lars There are so much waterways in the Netherlands, so those elevated boardwalks doesn't surprise me at all and they can be very convenient if neighbourgs hate each others; a destroyed footpath could be a convincing relief! Nevertheless you posted a fine view of the new museum which outside finished stage seem adapted to the neighbourhood architecture seen at rear. Groeten

Colour, light and contrast excellent, good together in a successful picture.

Hello Lars

It seems to be a very interesting museum situated in a beautiful area. The dark buildings really stands out amongst the green lawn and canals. Especially i like the contrast added by the green door in the house in the foreground. Interesting text and lovely capture:) TFS.

Greetings, Erling

Hi Lars,

The wideness of the area is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the houses. The light has agood effect on the colours. Have a nice day.

Hello Lars,
I am surprised the bay turned into a freshwater lake by just being dammed by a dike. How did that happen, springs, streams? At any rate I like the black huts that you are showing here, it looks like a nice place to visit.

Good morning Lars,
Another attractive capture with genuine Dutch elements. I like the colors and the high quality. Well taken.

Hello Lars,

wonderful view from the Netherlands showing a typical view from this amazing country. Very fine composition and excellent sharpness.Very well done.TFS.

Hello Lars,

Good sharpness and density levels with punchy light contrasts and the dark fg fence contrasting well with the lighter toned white fence on the pedestrian bridge. Tfs!

Hello Lars,

Hello Lars,
Interesting of the Zuiderzeemuseum with wonderful architecture.Thank you for informative note.
Very good composition with perfect exposure and good color saturation.
Fine presentation

Dag Lars

Vele groeten, Paul
