If you have ever watched the Dutch national soccer team play football anywhere in the world — or if you’ve been in Amsterdam during Holland’s annual King’s Day celebration (formerly Queen’s Day) — you may wonder why nearly all Dutch people dress in orange during such occasions.

After all, the colors of the official Dutch flag are red, white, and blue.

The answer is simple: Orange is the color of the Dutch Royal Family, which hails from the House of Orange.

Hello Daniel,

I think you will have solved a curious problem for many people, with your explanation.
Bicycles always make interesting subjects they are part of our growing-up process and we view them with nostalgia.
Of course, the Dutch use these vehicles effectively and efficiently.
This is a particularly colourful version and anchors the f/g against the more sombre, seren b/g.
Isn't it co-incidental that there is a hint of reddy/orange through the window!

Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

hello Daniel
Un bon cadrage sur ces vélos.
Gros plan bien réalisé.
Bonne journée
Roland

Hello Daniel,
The orange bicycle is a fun addition to this well framed composition, adding a touch of contrasting colour and supplying a second focal point. I like the narrow framing and the well rendered textural detail.

Hello Daniel,

very fine picture from The Hague in the Netherlands the couty of bikes ... Very good sharpness and clarity.
Very well done.TFS.

Bonjour Daniel,

J'aime beaucoup ce cadrage vertical qui est certainement ta spécialité.La bicyclette orange tient bien sa place sur ce mur qui reflète doucement une belle lumière.

Amicalement

Serge

Yes, the national color of Netherlands, and the second symbol of this country is the bicycle, very nice shot and a pretty scene

Ciao Daniel
il colore classico di questa nazione che, in questo caso, ti è stato molto di aiuto anche nella composizione della foto.
Saluti

Hello Daniel
A bike is always an attractive object to make a scene more vivid and this orange bike certainly do, but also this beautiful window and the façade are, even without bike worth to be photographed.
Excellent work, Have a nice day. Groet Rob

Hi Daniel
I like how this picture is laid out with eye-piercing colour of the bikes make the subject really stand out. The wheelers have got quite a charm feel to it too. It's a beautiful mundane shot, Congrats.
Best wishes

Hello Daniel,
Despite being Dutch, orange is far from my favourite colour, but the bright orange parts of the bike do stand out very nicely here against the grey wall. The lamp and the window are very well included too in this vertical composition.

Hi Daniel

PS
That PINK road in Lisbon is famous for photographers and Instagramers :) If you google search PINK ROAD LISBON, you'll see what i'm talking about. and you'll see the difference in just how PINK the road is in sunlight. I had bad luck with the lighting. GO SEE IT :) Easy to find, lower Lisbon, about a 10-12 min walk from the cities tall white gate which you've posted here.

another fun and cultural shot here, i like its simplicity, its subject matter and textured wall. looks great to me, simple is often best. cheers
Craig
