Good Morning Everyone,

Having introduced Montepulciano in my last series, I would like to show you a beautiful building, the town hall, set in the Piazza Grande.

The Piazza Grande is Montepulciano’s showy stage set, in all its historical splendour. This is the chief setting for summer festivals, open-air concerts under the stars and even the occasional film set. The main square sits at the town’s highest point, both culturally and geographically. The town hall is set on one side and is of 14th-century origin. Its Italian name is Palazzo Comunale and it is a miniature version of the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence.

I liked this oblique view which showed the many small arches, seemingly to impress, rather than contain statues.

As a workshop, I will show a front view of the structure here and another workshop, here just for interest!

Enjoy your day, Bev :-)

Witaj Bev!
A very curious fragment of building.
I like it.
Interesting POV and composition.
Tower makes impression.
Nice day.
Krzysztof

Hello Bev,
Most photo probably show this building from the angle in the WS. It makes quite a different impression from this side. It's an interesting view, not least to see how the major part of the side wall is quite rough and looks like it was left unfinished. It's always fascinating to examine objects from different angles – just as in decent journalism. ;-)
The other WS photo is very nice too.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Bev

I like the wedding cake type of tiers in the architecture. Good upward pov towards what looks like a winged griffin hugging the flagpole. The blue sky makes a nice backdrop. Tfs!

How nice to see you and Len on the WS, Beverley, happiness forever.
Most imposing tower built up on the city-hall building. A unique design even for Italian standards. Managed well with the strong summer light.
My best regards,
Ike

Hello Bev, my neighbour today

Hello Beverley, an alternative angle that actually shows more than the standard viewpoint. Here we can see the different levels of the tower, a little like the tiers of a cake!
The wonderful light brings out all the details of the stonework so clearly.
Looks like you had great weather, the bright blue sky is the perfect background.
Regards Jean.

Bonjour Bev,

Elle est impressionnante cette belle tour de Montepulciano. Le cadrage est bon et la contre plongée donne beaucoup d'ampleur à l'ensemble. La lumière est belle et les détails ressortent parfaitement.

Amicalement

Hello Beverley,
A beautiful close-up of the town hall. The photo is pin-sharp and the gorgeous architecture looks great against the perfectly blue sky. Excellent work and composition.
Lars

Hello Beverley,
Almost unbelievable that this small town has an architecture that can compete with the one in Firenze.
I've been several times in Italy but have never thought at visiting Montepulciano. Your photos, however may convince me to do it.
Razor-sharp presentations of this beautiful architecture.
Best regards, Paul
