Odeon of Herodes Atticus was built in 161 AD by the Athenian magnate Herodes Atticus in memory of his wife, Aspasia Annia Regilla. It was originally a steep-sloped theater with a three-story stone front wall and a wooden roof made of expensive, cedar of Lebanon timber. It was used as a venue for music concerts with a capacity of 5,000. It lasted intact until it was destroyed and left in ruins by the Heruli in 267 AD.

Hello Daniel,
Excellent point of view over the ancient theatre making good use of the tiers of curved benches to create depth an perspective. I like the inclusion of part of the city in the background. Very agreeable lights and colours and excellent sharpness.

Hello Daniel, a fabulous point of view of this ancient monument; they certainly knew how to build!
Your shot is even more dramatic as you have included the city below.
There is just the tiniest sliver of light on the horizon, which I assume must be the sea?
Regards Jean.

Hi Daniel
The vertical format is appropriate, I like this view as you offer a straight shooting point for you to be able to bring out the detail of the huge ancient structure remarkably with good glimpse of the background. This really brings out a great exposure and sharp in focus on the subject matter whilst the skyscape also contributes to making this photo striking.

Walking up the steep gradient isn't for the faint hearted for sure.........
Delightful shot supported by you good info write up

Best wishes

Interesting vertical shjot with lots of depth, good composition and fantastic sky above all!

Regards, Jan

Hello Daniel,

I really like this type of shot, where the f/g is full of interest and is set against a b/g which adds to the overall appeal.
Here, you have shown the steep rows of the reconstructed amphitheatre, set against the ruined but atmospheric walls, with the expanse of the modern city spreading outwards, down the hill.
It tells us much about the history and how it fits into a modern setting.

My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Ciao Daniel, great POV on fantastic theather, excellent perspective, splendid light and wonderful colors very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Hello Daniel,

A terrific downward view on the antique theatre, with excellent sharpness and smart choice of a vertical format. I like the dramatic clouds & lighting in the sky. Tfs!

Bonjour Daniel,

Je dois avouer que j'aimerais beaucoup assister à un spectacle à cet endroit, peu importe ce que cela serait pourvu que je puisse profiter de cette vue grandiose.

Hi Daniel,
I like this image very much. The line of the amphitheatre seats runs through the image and there is great detail and interest in the building. For me the real star of the image is that amazing sky and the light that comes down over Athens.

Hello Daniel, Interesting view of this antique theater in the modern town. It looks very steep. would be great to see the performance there.

Kind regrads Malgo

Hi Daniel,

The wideness of this area of the city is creating depth. The point of view is showing the details of the Odeon of Herodes Atticus. The sharpness is very good. Have a nice day.

Hi Daniel
I know we've all seen this subject and view before, but who the heck cares! I think i'll go online and see if I can find images of how the theatre was supposed to look with its roof.
I like your shot with the strong atmosphere present, its adds alot to the overall presentation. lovely shot here
