|This picture was taken on our way to Anilio village, near the famous small town of Metsovo, in Epirus region.|
I just stopped at the bottom of one of the huge pillars of this massive bridge (I am not sure if the scale of this bridge is obvious, in this photo, but believe me, it is a massive bridge).
This bridge (which crosses a deep gorge) is a part of Egnatia Highway, which is a major part our our national road complex.
Egnatia is a mainland highway, connecting Epirus region with Macedonia region and Thrace region, leading to Greek-Turkish country borders.
The road consists of many bridges (like this one) and tunnels, making it one of the safest roads in Europe, having also made transportation for local people and tourists, safe and easy.
There are now also some other new and modern highways like this one (Ionia highway and Olympia Highway) taking transportation to a higher level, regarding my country’s past standards.
I have also to mention that the landscape is breathtaking.
Thank you for looking.
