Good Morning Everyone,

My post today shows Cologne Central Railway Station.

It really is worthwhile seeing the photograph on Beta here where it is bigger, bolder and clearer.

If you love lines and shapes, creating patterns then this has to be a place to visit.

I didn't have long to explore Cologne as we were only there for a day but if you are short of time ... and have a camera, this is the place to go.

If you would like more information about the station, please click here .

It is Mother's Day in the U.K. today but I'm not sure about the rest of Europe. Anyway, can I wish you all a very happy day, Bev :-)

Hi Bev. Railway stations are always a good opportunity to take something of unique and original talking about the architechtures. And this is a beautiful example, very geometric and caught in a perfect exposure and sharpness, well done. Have a nice Sunday and thanks,Luciano

Hello Bev,
I think you had no choice but to make this in B&W. It's all about lines and curves and the patterns they create. I imagine there were photo opportunities of different kinds found everywhere. I hope you also had time to visit the great cathedral nearby, but maybe the railway station was more photogenic, and had a better light inside.
Best wishes, and congratulations on this important day ;-),

Hello Beverley,
The RR station construction is well shown in B&W, to off-set harsh backlight as most time this is the case in such photos.
Distinct objects over the entire pic. space.

Hello Bev,
Very close to the cathedral I seem to remember from my one and only visit to Cologne over twenty years ago, Black and white is an excellent idea for this composition accentuating the strong geometric lines of the roof trusses. Nicely converted with a fine range of tones going from white to black. Very sorry, but no smilies left so late in the day.
Warm and sunny here today, rising to 18 degrees after a cold start.

Bonjour Beverly

Tu pouvais t'en donner à coeur joie dans cette gare sous cette verrière des plus spectaculaires. La transformation au noir et blanc force le regard sur l'essentiel. Très bel effet de profondeur.

a good way to begin a stay in this city, lines everywhere as a giant spiderweb, well underlined by the soft B&W choice

Dobar dan.
Interesantan i lep pogled, dobar tekst ...
Dobar rad, lepo pokazana konstrukcija stanice i posetioci, dobar kontrast i ostrina, lepo uhvacen trenutak. Interesantna i lepa konstrukcija stanice.
Lepo popodne i sve najbolje.

Good day.
Interesting and nice view, good text ...
Good work, beautiful constructions cells demonstrated and visitors, good contrast and sharpness, well caught moment. An interesting and beautiful design of the station.
Nice afternoon and all the best.

Hello Beverley, an excellent point of view where the roof of the station almost completely fills the frame.
More impact delivered, I think, for being posted in b/w.
Thanks for sharing,
regards Jean.

Hi Beverley!
Very interesting details!
Truly attractive picture!
Sharpness, exposure, black & white and composition are all excellent photo qualities here that I really enjoyed!
TFS - congrats,

Hi Bev,

a situation well known to all Rhinelanders, I appreciate the fact that even the Brits get familiar with it...

The eastern end of Cologne central station is a nice place for photography, especially due to its roof construction and the very low radius of the tracks. To be honest: I would have enlarged the contrast, this here is too much grey and white to my eyes. But the chosen perspective is great and leaves no room for improvement!

Have a nice week!

Hello Beverley, my "almost" neighbour today !
Very nice b&W capture of this famous station in Cologne.
B&W is allways been my favorite specially for architectorial captures and this one is a good sample for this fact.
TFS and best regards

Hi Bev,
you used your short time well, this is a cool photograph with lines and curves that almost make me dizzy:) The roof is the main interest in this pic but it was a good decision to include a train and the people on the platform. B&W was the best option here and it gives an impression of a picture that could have been taken for 100 years ago! Well done!

Have a nice evening/

Hi Bev,
Impressive architecture, original and well presented with a well made b&w version, perfect sharpness, tfs.

Hi dear Beverley

Very nice graphic and metalic image at all. Nice cropping makes the best framework and composition.
The choice of B&W is great idea. Nice idea too to remove other obstacles, so simple but that is why very appealing image!

All the best and have a good day! Takero

Hello Bev

Fine composition, which is brought out even stronger in bl/w.
Thanks for sharing this one & cheers.

Hello Bev

Well I certainly like lines and shapes, and I always enjoy a good monochrome, so this suits me fine! Frame-filling geometry and no colour to interfere with our appreciation of the architecture. Nice one.

Ciao cara Bev, lovely composition with fantastic graphic, beautiful B&W, fine details and excellent clarity, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Hi Bev, very good black and white photograph of this interesting composition with the structure of the station, very well captured in this beautiful image, with good clarity, light and quality. Very good and interesting work perfectly done, my congratulations, my friend. Thank you for sharing this beautiful work.

Good night and happy start to the week.
Best wishes from the south of Spain.

Hi Bev.

Smart choice to present this image in b&w. It focuses on the lines, patterns, tones and shapes without any distracting colour. Tfs!

Hi Bev
wow, top notch photo! honestly. One of your best.
and seeing it on Beta only makes it better right!

You only had 1 day in this great city? that would be so hard, where do you start...well here i guess haha

Looking at the graphics of your shot, I'm suddenly having a strong urge to play checkers or something!
love it, so much geometry going on. cheers

Hello Bev, Also in Poland 26th of May is the Mother Day.
Excellent view of the ceiling in Cologne railway station. Fantastic palm-like pattern. a pity that you were not staying in Cologne, it is wonderful city with a lot of places to see. Superb composition.
Have a nice day

Hello Bev,
All the lines and curves here are great. It's nice when railway stations and other similar places have interesting designs. They might as well put some "fun" in word functional. ;-) The choice of B/W is perfect here since it enhances all the shadows, too.

Dear Beverley
You shows us wonderful photos of Cologne Central Railway Station.
Strong graphical effects are impressive.
Excellent blck and white composition.
Warm regards

Hi Beverley
Tout bon le cadrage, bonne prise de la lumière de haut en bas, intéressante architecture super bien présenter
belle soirée

Ciao dear Bev

Oooh look at all those shapes and graphism. A great choice converting it to B&W, which emphasises the geometries and the play of light and shade. I also like the tight framing, allowing us to concentrate on the ceiling.

Have a wonderful weekend

Hello Berverley,

you have shared here an amazing picture from railway station at Cologne. Your choice of b+w mode is perfect for this kind of shot. Very well done.TFS.

With regards from Luxembourg

Hi Robinson,
Harika bir geometrik kompozisyon.
Netlik ve ışık çok güzel.
Bütün ihtişamı belgelemişsin.

Ciao Bev
questo bellissimo b&w mi era sfuggito.
Molto interessante la conversione per mettere in risalto la linee dell'architettura.
Buona Pasqua
