The village of Couvertoirade is classified in the most beautiful villages of France, and major inheritance of Larzac.

Ramparts West and South of the strengthened village of the couvertoirade.

Round tower with machicoulis, of Northern angle of the ramparts, known as Tower Raunier, built in XVème century.
Round tower with roof, of angle of the ramparts East and South, known as Tower of Cambier, built in XVème century.
Round tower with roof, also center of the Southern rampart, known as tower of Aublan, built in XVème century.

La Couvertoirade is a French commune, located in the department of Aveyron and the Midday-Pyrenees area, populated of 153 Couvertoiradois distributed on 62 km², that is too say 2 hab/km².

On Causse of Larzac, a medieval village built at the 12th century by the Knights of the order of the Temple, in a strengthened enclosure built with the 15e century by the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem. The templiers, then the Hospital ones in 1312, practised the culture and the breeding there, providing provisioning for the war.

In 1119, Hugues de Payns, knight originating in Champagne, melt a militia which will become the "Knights of the Order of the Temple". Monks, knights, monks and soldiers, Templiers will defend Jerusalem, and the pilgrims going on the tomb of Christ.
In 1312, the order is dissolved, and after a lawsuit, the large Master Jacques de Molay and other Templiers are sharp flarings on roughing-hew it.

Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem
Before the first crusade, a hospital is founded in Jerusalem close of the Holy Sepulchre for the Western pilgrims, other Hospitals are create in the wearing of loading Italian and Provencaux. In 1113, the Hospital of Midsummer's Day of Jerusalem is recognized like an independent hospital order.
In 1140, the Order of the Hospital becomes in military order, with néanmmoins vocation of charity and defenders of Christendom.
In 1291, following the fall of Midsummer's Day d' Acre, the Knights Templar are folded up in Cyprus, then in Rhodos.
In 1312, the goods of Templiers, after their dissolution, are allotted to the Hospital ones.
In 1522, Turkish takes Rhodos.
In 1530, the emperor Charles Quint allots Malta to the Hospital ones. They since are called Sovereign Military Order of Malta or Knights of Malta .

Lovely piece here with great colours, a vibrant mood, great perspective and a perfect pov. You have managed the colours and lights well and have also captured the textures right. good composition.

Cette visite virtuelle de La Couveroirade est vraiment superbe et me ramène pas loin de 20 ans en arrière, mais ce village ne peut pas laisser indifférent. Une très belle réalisation sous un beau ciel d'hiver et une très belle lumière.

strong view on that powerful fortification. The POV looking along and upwards makes the wall and towers even stronger. The trees at left give a good change.
