A view of the main portal of the Collegiate Church in Saint-Émilion.

Building started at the beginning of the 12th century for the Community of Cannons of Saint Augustine. It continued until the 16th century. Today it is the parish church of the commune.

It presents certain characteristics of the Perigordian Romanesque, such as the two cupolas on pendants which vault the second and third bays. However, most of the architectural elements visible today are related to the Gothic style.

Salut Stephen,

Good sharpness with a pleasant diffused light and a superb upward pov. I like the repetition offered by the concentric arches at left. The decorative statues augment the the rather austere facade. Tfs!

Bonjour, cher Stephen,
Elle est belle et originale cette église. Son architecture est vraiment particulière de style roman primitif, elle a subi des transformation au cours de sa vie.
Très bon cadrage faisant ressortir la beauté architecturale de l'ensemble.
Amitiés.

Hi Stephen,

The tight frame is putting the church in evidence. The point of view is showing the details of the Collegiate church. The light is giving good colours rendering. Have a nice day.

Hello Stephen,

good image of this church, I like the design of the facade, it has an unusual rectangular shape, details are excellent and you chose a good point of view, well done,

Best regards,

Sergio

Bonjour Stephen,

Je trouve l'effet de lentilles très intéressant dans cette composition. On à l'impression que le haut du bâtiment est plus large que le bas. Belle contre plongée et beau ciel en arrière plan.

Amicalement

Serge

Hello Stephen,
An excellent photo of the front façade of this church. You show it here from an excellent angle, which shows the beautiful details of the old walls so well. I like the soft light too. Well done.

Ciao Stephen
bella architettura, originale facciata, la parte inferiore è classica, ma la parte superiore è diversa da quelle che conosco.
Ottima condivisione

Hi Stephen
A nice shot and piece of history of a beautiful aged building, sculpture and masonry here and full of character. Great composition as well, well seen and taken, Congrats
Best regards

Hello Stephen
If you explore the history of these old buildings, it is fascinating to discover how many centuries were needed to eventually get this appearance.
Often it is not easy for the common man to distinguish which building styles are all processed.
Beautiful photo work.
Have a nice day, groet Rob

Hi Stephen,
I am very surprised with the asymmetry. I thought at first that it looks very original but after a closer look I realized that it was most probably symmetrical in the past but part of it did not survived...
Either way, fantastic effect. I am learning about a completely unknown to me region from your reportage,
It must have been a great trip,
very well done!

Hi Stephen
once again, the tall vertical stance is so prominant. Love the wide angle lens for this purpose, it does it so well.
we can get a true sense of how powerful and thick these walls are, especially along the bottom half. sweet shot. lots of details. cheers
Craig

Hello Stephen,
It is a cute church that seems to have been around for a while. I like the textures of its stone walls and the definition in the sky. 👍

MT
