Hello friends and colleagues, today I offer another view of the city of Colmar, this is the second image of the second visit I made to the beautiful city, I hope you like, then some letters about the city.

Colmar (French: Colmar, Alsatian: Colmer, German: Colmar, between 1871-1918 and 1940-1945: Kolmar): is a city and commune in the Alsace department of the Upper Rhine, France. It is the prefecture (capital) of the district of the same name. The old city center, well preserved, houses several buildings, sometimes large, German Gothic style and the first Renaissance, as well as a number of old churches, among which is the collegiate church of San Martín (XIII century) as the biggest and most remarkable. The local artist of the fifteenth century Martin Schongauer painted what is considered his masterpiece, The Virgin of the Roses, in the Eglise des Dominicains (church of the Dominicans). The famous Isemheim Altarpiece by Matthias Grünewald is the most outstanding treasure housed in the Unterlinden Museum in the city. This museum, opened in 1853, is housed in the former convent of the Dominican order of "Unterlinden" (meaning "under the lime trees"). In 1834, Auguste Bartholdi, creator of the famous Statue of Liberty, was born in Colmar Frédéric, located in the city of New York. Once a year, in the month of August, Colmar hosts the Wine Fair. However, the greatest art preserved by Colmar is that traditional atmosphere, with its carefully preserved wooden structure houses, full of flowering geraniums on hot days. Colmar has an interesting center, set with old buildings, a famous museum, Unterlinden, and a neat little Venice. In addition, in the surroundings of the city there are some other points of interest, such as the magnificent village of Riquewihr, and an excellent gastronomy and careful wines that also haunt the conception of art. Unterlinden Museum is housed in a former convent of Dominica founded in the thirteenth century, which has a Gothic cloister considered the best in the region.

Some 300,000 visitors come every year to this center, which exhibits excellent artistic samples from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, as well as archaeological and ethnographic elements, on two floors and a basement. But the axis of all this attraction is the famous Issenheim altarpiece, painted in the early sixteenth century by Grünewald to decorate a convent chapel of Issenheim (20 kilometers south of Colmar) The ten paintings of Grünewald are masterful. The painter left an impressive crucifixion, where astonish the gestures of pain, the luminous tonalities and numerous details, among which is the aching aspect of the flesh of Christ. This crucifixion of Mathias Grünewald has placed the painter as one of the most outstanding of European and world religious art of all time. Little Venice, beautiful sets of traditional houses, full of flowers, of beautiful wooden frames, are lined along the street and dock of Pescadería, next to the canal. These houses were owned by fishermen. In the neighborhood also lived gardeners who used the canals to drive the fruits to the market of the city. Today the boats take rather quiet tourists. Very close to this neighborhood is that of the tanners, with seventeenth and eighteenth century houses, carefully restored. In the center of the city of Colmar there are many Alsatian houses with wooden frames, artistic balconies, turrets, gazebos and other decorative elements. In addition to the proliferation of this type of construction, the exquisite care of this important heritage, full of flowers during the most benign days, stands out in Colmar. This magnificent ensemble covers a large part of the city, although it is particularly noteworthy in the walk from the cathedral square to the Old Customs and Little Venice.

Hello Angel,

The half timbered houses look great. Reasonable sharpness and attractive pastel colours. I like the old style lamps and the splashes of greenery added by the trees, Tfs!

Bonjour, cher ami Angel,

Hello Angel,
A very nice photo of this picturesque street lined with beautiful buildings. The photo is well framed and nicely cropped.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Angel,
You seem to have made an early start to find this very attractive street totally devoid of people. The square crop is well chosen, putting the accent on the subject. Nicely exposed with well rendered colours and very good sharpness.

Hello

Les belles maisons alsaciennes quelle image et vue quelle petite rue qui se perd en fond et ce rendu colorés sur ces maisons ce colombage et ces plaque au sol sueprbe.
bravo et amitié

Hola Angel,

This is a fine capture of the centre of Colmar, from a well chosen angle so that the lamppost is strongly placed and the street guides inwards to an equally strong point.
The details of the buildings are sharp and interesting, relaying the history of this beautiful place.
I am surprised to see no figures in the street, it is unusual!

Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Hello Angel,
Everybody seemed to be somewhere else ...
But the architecture of the buildings on both sides of the street is wonderful.
The lamppost on the left and the lantern on the right frame the view well and help to give a bit more depth to the image.
In the first window on the right we see a reflected image of the half timbered house on the other side.
While the sky is a bit dull, the clarity is excellent and the colours of the houses are well rendered.
Best regards, Paul

Ciao Angel, gran bella prospettiva sulle deliziose facciate, ottima nitidezza, magnifica luce e splendidi colori, bravo, ciao Silvio

Bonjour Angel,

Luis.
