In the Rivière-sur-Tarn commune, at the Entre-Deux-Monts pass ventilated by the wind of north and the wind of midday and the wind of west, between "Puech de Fontaneilles" of 820 m and "Puech de Suége", one discovers a set of 29 old semi-cave-dwelling cellars dating from the 18th century.

These cellars are built to approximately 685 m of altitude, on grounds where geological faults, the “fleurines”, ensure a ventilation and an ideal constant freshness for the conservation of the wine in large barrels.
They are covered stone constructions of roofing stones, the low and packed ones on the others closed of doors in poplar thick and insulating.

The vineyard of South-Aveyron, undoubtedly dating from the Roman epoch, brought prosperity to this area, producing approximately 500,000 hectolitres annually, until the beginning of the 20th century.
The destruction of the phylloxera and the competition of the wines of Languedoc involved the decline of the culture of the vine, until the revival started in 1956.

17 communes distributed in the Tarn valley, of the upstream to the downstream of Millau, from Peyreleau to Broquiès, produce on 57 hectares, 1400 hectolitres of red wine, 80 hectolitres of white wine, 500 hectolitres of rosy wine, classified in V.O.D.Q.S., VDQS, Label of origin Delimited Wine of Higher Quality, since 1994, and called wines of the Côtes de Millau, Millau coasts.

_ The TARN river takes its source to approximately 1600 m of altitude, north of hamlet of the Hospital, not far from the peak Cassini, on the slopes of Mount-Lozere, the territory of the commune of le Pont-de-Montvert, and is thrown after a course of 380 km, and the crossing of a catchment area of 15700 km², in the Garonne close to Castelsarrasin. In Moissac, close to the confluence with the Garonne, the minimal flow is gone down to 9 m³/s, while the maximum flow with reached 8000 m³/s. Description.

_ The "GORGES du TARN" which are a canyon of 53 kilometers, dug by the Tarn river between the "Causse Méjean" and the "Causse de Sauveterre", extends from Quézac to Rozier. The Tarn river passes from calms in rapids between the rock faces which reach sometimes 500 m, cut in the layers of limestone which reach 650 m and up to 1,500 m per place.

RIVIÈRE-SUR-TARN is a French commune, located in the department of Aveyron of the Midi-Pyrénées area, populated of 961 Rivièrois in 1999, distributed out of, 26 km², that is to say 37 hab./km².

The Commune has four villages, Boyne, le Bourg, Fontaneilles, Rivière.

Julius Caesar conquered Rouergue towards 52 before Jesus-Christ, and Romains were established on Right Bank of the Tarn, creating potteries around Rivière and of Boyne.

The origin of River-on-Tarn goes up at the end of the 12th century, and belonged to the Viscount of Creissels.

The commune has an important inheritance, the Castle of Peyrelade of 11th and 12th centuries, which was one of the most important fortresses of Rouergue.

Buon pomeriggio Joel

Branko
