Montaigut castle, Gissac

The fortified enclosure.
The castle on headland. September 26th, 2010.

The castle of the 12th 15th centuries, one of older castles of Rouergue, built on a headland which overlooks the ROUGIER of Camarès. Historic building since 1987.

The first trace of a castle date from the 10th century, 996, in the cartulary of the Gellone abbey in Saint-Guilhem Désert, built on a necropolis of the Early Middle Ages, made about sixty rupestral tombs, which were excavated and that one can see.

The castle, where justice was made, preserves its prison, a spiral staircase which deserted arched rooms with Gothic chimneys, the cistern, the enclosing wall, the bailey, the keep, machicolations etc…

It is the association of the Friends of the castle of Montaigut, owner of the castle since 1968, which restored the castle.

Joel,
This is a nice shot of this fortified castle. Your composition and POV are nice with the side walls leading the eye into the shot. The lighting and colors are great and the photo has fine sharpness.
TFS,
Asa

Hello Joël,
A fine capture of this absolutely massive gateway. I like the light and shadow contrasts on the foreground path that guides the eyes towards the gate that looks strong enough to outlast time itself.

Hello Joël,

The narrow window and high entrance shows more a romanesque style, lovely old architecture.
Sharpness and clarity are very nice.
Soft and very pleasant for look at, good colors too.
Great composition, nice depth and perspective. TFS.

Best regards,
John

Bonjour Joel,

I like this view of the stony site a lot, with the austere atmosphere, the simple lines, the texture of the stone, the singular shape of the arch... Also your workshop views are interesting and very well done.

Have a nice evening

Simonetta

Letizia

Hi Joël,
Another well captured castle from this very beautiful part of France. There really seems to be many very interesting and beautiful places to see here in this region. I also like WS #2 where we can see a larger pert of the surroundings and som e pleasant earth colours.
Kind regards
Gunnar

Amicalement

Hi Joël,
magnificent buiolding and well taken in the full sun.
God tight framing and the millstone is a fine exta.
regards, Gerrit

Joel
