Le Truel hamlet, Saint-Pierre-des-Tripiers

One sight.
Other sight.

Notre-Dame of the Assumption church, of Le Truel Hamlet.

Le Truel is a hamlet of the commune of Saint-Pierre-des-Tripiers, in the , "GORGES de la JONTE", Jonte canyon, on right bank of the JONTE, at the foot of "Causse Méjean".

_The JONTE river takes its source in the Massif of the Mont Aigoual, near the hameau of Cabrillac of the commune of Rousses, in the department of Lozère, and separates by splendid canyons, the Causse Méjean and Causse Noir, Lozère and Aveyron, after the village of Gatuzières. It is thrown in the Tarn at the village of "le Rozier", after 39 km of course. Jonte river becomes underground to 3 km downstream from Meyrueis, and arises 7 km further with resurgence of the Douze.

_Les "GORGES de la JONTE" is a canyon of 21 kilometers, dug by Jonte river between the "CAUSSE MÉJEAN" and the "CAUSSE NOIR", extending from Meyrueis to Rozier.

_The "CAUSSE MÉJEAN" in the south of the Massif Central, of a surface of 330 km², is highest of GRANDS CAUSSES, its altitude varying from 800 m to 1247 m with the Mont Cargo, and is the third of four Grands Causses. It is surrounded of the impressive canyons of Jonte river in the south, Tarnon riverin the east and the Tarn riverin north and the west. The thickness of the layers of limestone of Jurassic, reached 650 m, and up to 1500 m per place.

_The "CAUSSE NOIR" extends on 200 km², (on the departments of Aveyron, Gard and Lozère), and is smallest of "GRANDS CAUSSES", large causses.
It is limited by the deep canyons of Jonte river to North, of Dourbie river in the south, the Tarn river in the west, and by the buttresses of the Cevennes in the East.

_The "GRANDS CAUSSES, in the south of the Massif Central, are delimited in north by the plateau of Aubrac, in the east by the Cévennes, the south by the plain of the lodévois, in the west by the plateau of Lévézou. These are plateaus limestones whose altitude varies from 700 to 1250 meters, and of surface going up to 1000 km².
The Grands Causses are formed by important causses of Larzac (1000 km²), of Sauveterre (550 km²), Méjean (330 km²), and Noir (200 km²), but also of the causses Comtal, Rouge and of Sévérac, and many small peripheral causses like causses of Mende, Blandas, Changefèges, Bégon, etc… No waterway circulates on the surface of the plateaus, because the rainwater infiltrates in the karstic, generating networks of many swallow-holes and caves, to re-appear in the valleys. A little geology of causses and the cévennes.

_The "MONT AIGOUAL", located on the commune of Valleraugue, is a granitic solid mass, culminating point of Gard to 1567 m, and second culminating point of Lozère after the Mont Lozere 1702 m, is a south-eastern projection of the Massif Central. It is remarkable by its panorama, its climatology. In clear weather, one discovers on 300 km of ray, the Mediterranean, the Mont Lozere, the Mounts of the Cantal, the Pyrénées, the Alps, and the Grands causses and the surrounding Cévennes.
The watershed between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean crosses the summit part. Several rivers take there their source of which Herault.

Saint-Pierre-des-Tripiers is a French commune, located in the department of Lozere of the Languedoc-Roussillon area, populated of 79 Saint-Pierriers in 1999, distributed out of 35 km², that is to say 2 hab./km².

One finds also, on the territory of the commune:
_Le pretty village of Truel fixed on the slopes of the Jonte river canyon.
_Le village of Viale near the remarkable site of the Arcs of Saint-Pierre.
_Le hamlet of la Volpillière.
_Le hamlet of la Caze stretched along the throats of Jonte.
_Le old hamlet caussenard of le Courby.
_Le hamlet of Cassagnes close to the circuit of the cornices, with the top of the canyons.
_La Sablière hamlet, on left bank of the Tarn river.

On the territory of the commune, one can observe with the top of the cliffs limestones which border the Tarn river and Jonte river canyons, the flight and the nesting of the vultures reintroduced in 1980, (After their disappearance in 1940, after 70,000 years of presence), fawn-coloured Vautour of 2.40 m scale, vulture monk, vulture percnoptère.

My images of Saint-Pierre-des-Tripiers.

Bonjour Joel ,

Belo trabalho!

Hi Joel,
a beautiful architectural photo again.
How many superb architectural photos assembled in the past years.... You have a collection deserving respect from churches and chapels, we may see an architectural interest again from Languedoc Roussillon, the building is visible in picturesque environment really, the composition is superb. Tfs! Have a nice day!

Hello Joël,
The curving road makes a good lead line towards the fine looking church. I also like the presence of the ubiquitous post box. The natural colours of the surrounding greenery make a very good foil for the cream and beige tones of the churches. Good sharpness throughout.

Pierre

An interesting turn a lovely church with soft green colours ,nice composition

Bonjour Joel, Ah yes, another lovely shot of this area. Excellent composition with the street in the foreground adding depth to the shot. I am amazed at the rocky cliffs in the background. The only France that i know is Paris, so you are providing some great pictures of places I have never been. TY. Regards, Roger

Bravo!
Ciao, buon mercoledì!
Paolo

Hi Joël,
A beautiful church again with this typical bell tower and the canyon behind here is also very pleasantl. Even the stretch of asphalt becomes a part of your composition, not without value. But I like the diagonal slone and the parallel line of the roof of the church.
Kind regards
Gunnar

Ciao Joel,

Bonjour Joel,
nice presentation of the church with the bell tower to outlined against the trees of the slope. The road creates depth and i think with a bit of contrast the scene would be better.I have done a workshop to see how it looks with the bit of contrast.I hope you don´t mind.

have a nice day,Danos
